4.0 out of 5 stars LED DVD 13 May 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
The picture quality is excellent. the sound is not brilliant but has adjustment and is as a small tv with small speakers is to be expected. The DVD is rather noisy when it first spins the disc up though which is dissapointing. ALSO NOTE that if you want to mount it on a VESA barcket on the wall you will have problems. I had to take a hacksaw to my VESA bracket to get it to fit on the back of the TV as the DVD case protrudes and prevents the VESA mount from screwing on. Therefore buy a mount that is a 'X' type so you only have to hacksaw one leg of the 'X' to get it to fit.

3.0 out of 5 stars A mediocre TV for the kitchen 7 May 2012
By bufeo
On the plus side the picture on the TV is okay and it can be seen clearly from many angles. The sound from the speakers is okay for a small TV.

After a couple of months the slight niggles with our TV that would stop me recommending it are: a slightly irritating clicking noise; the TV doesn't always turn off when pressing the power button on the remote; and on a couple of occasions the TV lost all the channels and had to be retuned (this was long after the Freeview switchover had finished). It seems as though the clicking noise on other LED TV sets is related to faulty capacitors that may need replacing in the future (search 'LED TV clicking'). However, as long as the TV continues to work the clicking noise in a kitchen is just a minor irritation.

Really good picture quality (back-lit), I am very happy with it and the DVD works well with clear picture. Sound is what you would expect on a 19" TV; I think it's fine. You wouldn't be using it in a huge room.

The problem I have with the TV is the truly awful EPG. It seems a bit mean to mention it when the picture is so good, but I am finding it extremely irritating! When you press the EPG button all sound and picture is switched off and you search in total silence against a black screen - this may be normal for small TV's, I don't know. I am used to having the current programme continue in a small frame at top of the screen so you can following it while you search for the next programme or some thing to watch later. Now if I am working in the kitchen, I must wait for the adverts before searching EPG, but then there is no way of knowing when the adverts have finished without quickly flicking back. Well I say quickly, there is an annoying delay before the EPG comes and goes. Also the default EPG display is 'Now and Next', not to my taste, but this can be changed to 'Time Line' but my preference cannot be stored! So must change it each time I use EPG............

Basically as a second TV it's great, picture is very good - just plan your viewing on your main TV or start buying The TV Times again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent small television 20 Nov 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
Having read the other reviews I settled on this as my main television. It replaces a really excellent 14" Sony Trinitron that I've had for the better part of fifteen years. Despite being delivered with a hole punched in the box, the TV was fine and undamaged. It took minutes to set up. The picture is clear, bright and accurate. Obviously LED doesn't have the depth and richness of colour found in CRT, but it's still very impressive. Running Hi-Definition video through my Blackberry Playbook to the HDMI input was really impressive. What has impressed me most though is the quality of signal. Every Freeview channel is here without any drop-out or blocking. A complete revelation since I'm in a completely rubbish area for digital and had relied on a Freeview box and booster before which produced erratic and poor quality reception when the change-over came. The EPG is another great feature so don't listen to those whining scrotes bleating on about not having picture in picture. The DVD is quiet, provides a smooth high quality picture and there are no strange noises or problems at all. The sound is a bit thin, but then I plugged it into a surround sound system so there's no issues there. Overall, I recommend this TV for any use and consider that for the money it can be considered a bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars First impressions and issue with wall bracket 15 Jun 2012
By GlenP
First impressions are that the picture is excellent, EPG is very good too, although that is probably because we are watching Freestat and not Freeview, a quick point about the wall bracket fixing though, after having been alerted on a mismatch of fitting following another review, I waited for delivery of the TV before ordering a cantilevered wall braket. The issue is that this TV has holes at 75mm centres, when every bracket that I could find comes in a universal fitting for 75mm and 100mm spacing. Normally this would not be a problem as the space on the back of a TV would accomodate the bracket, however on this set that space is taken up by a bulge on the back which houses the DVD (probably the same for other DVD Combos?). It wasn't a big problem for me as I simply cut off the excess bracket to make it fit, but if you don't own a vice / hacksaw / mini grinder this could be an issue for you!

This is a nice little TV. Out of the box it's easy to set up - just attach the stand via 4 screws, plug in the aerial lead and you're basically done. Overall quality of the TV itself is pretty good and it's nice and slim, particularly considering that it includes a built-in DVD player. There are several inputs on the back, including HDMI. The remote control is decent.

The first time I fired up the TV it ran a short setup process where I could select the language, my region etc. and then scan for Freeview channels. No problems there. The picture looked really nice with the out of the box settings. The online programme guide is pretty good. It does the job. What lets this TV down though, is the sound. There's a good amount of volume, but there is virtually no bass. The TV is small and slim, so I wasn't expecting much, but this is the one thing that lets it down.

The TV has a built-in slot loading DVD player that works fine. It also has a USB port on the back and will play media directly from a USB stick/drive. I tested this by putting a movie (in AVI format) on a USB stick and when connecting the stick it automatically popped up the menu where I could select movies, music, photos etc. The movie played back perfectly, so that's a pretty nice bonus for a TV of this size/price.

So overall, OK build quality, slim and nice looking, good picture quality, good remote, decent connectivity options, DVD playback, USB playback for movies/photos/music, but let down by the weak sound.
