Product Description

You have asked us for Tortoise Pens made from the same unique construction we use for all of our Wooden Gardening Products and here they are. These pens are safe and secure for the average household tortoise. The lid can be half opened or completely removed when conditions demand. Made from hard wearing, long lasting FSC wood they will pack away into a very small space when not in use. slots together and stores away easily - good design, support slot for front door hinge not quite in line fully with lid but still works ok. Would be nice to add some screws/attachments pre-fitted for net etc to cover other open area for protection but overall would recommend

This tortoise house is excellent. I use it as an indoor house for when the weather is not suitable for my tortoise to go outside. I use a waterproof base and suitable substrate for the flooring and the size is very large compared to other tortoise tables on the market and is much better quality. It is very easy to assemble and the roof of the bed area can be removed if required (although I do not find this necessary, as it can also be folded back). My tortoise also sleeps in this at night, instead of being left outside, although she does also have a tortoise hut outside too. It is a very large size (it fits exactly inside the playing area of a full size pool table, which is where mine is situated) and I find it perfect for my tortoise to stay safe and secure indoors, with a uv/heat lamp when the weather is too cold and wet for her to go out. The weather in this country is unpredictable, and although it has been lovely and warm this year, last year was a completely different matter, when it didn't really stop raining and was fairly cold, not at all suitable for a tortoise. It is also very good for when your tortoise has come out of hibernation, to make sure everything is ok. She is 55 years old, has been handed down through my family and is a very happy tortoise. I would not hesitate in purchasing another one of these Tortoise Houses'. Highly recommended!

I feel that the person who has left the review below, should take everything into account before leaving a negative review like that on this product. It makes me wonder if he has even purchased one of these tortoise houses to validate is comments. Maybe he should take his own advise and look at the website he has suggested, as tortoises are not always able to go outside all the time.

I can only echo the thoughts of one of the other reviewers. Confining a creature which is by nature a wandering, nomadic animal to a tiny space like this is exceptionally cruel. Products like this should be banned, and anyone who owns a tortoise and thinks this is an acceptable environment for it should be banned from keeping them.

This product is not only grossly over-priced but utterly and completely inadequate for it's purpose. To confine a tortoise to such a small area is very cruel. If it were to be used for young or hatchlings it might be better but would then need covering - preferably with wire mesh - to protect against crows / predators.
Furthermore, this type of enclosure encourages the totoises to be placed in areas of lawn. This is not suitable. A tortoise needs a range of habitats where it can graze on weeds and flowers.
If you cannot handover a secure large and varied part of your garden to your tortoise, do not keep a tortoise.
