Product Description

Product Description

Tortoise George is not very fast and most of the time he comes in last. The mouse ran off and ate the cheese leaving none for George, but she pays the price ... Tortoise George is a very colourful book all about his journey through the woods to find something tasty to eat. Along the way he meets a mouse who seems friendly at first, but then shows quiet greedy behaviour. The book helps to teach that it's not good to be greedy, and that being slow and steady is a much better approach.

From the Publisher

This is the first title to be published by Smallfish Books. We are very proud of our first book and will be publishing our second title very soon.

We shall also be publishing the second instalment of Tortoise George late in the year.

You need to read this a couple of times to get it, but once it clicks you and you're child will love it. Highly recommended.

I bought this book for my 4 year old nephew who's a native German speaker (but grew up in the US). This book is in very clear English which is great for helping him to keep up and improve his English skills - along with the Mick Inkpen books which are also great. The illustrations are really cute and there's a lot to talk about apart from the actual story. The poem at the end is a bit cheesy, but it rounds off the book nicely.

1.0 out of 5 stars garish george, 3 Jan 2010
This review is from: Tortoise George (Paperback)
I'm not a fan of digital illustration. It can't disguise bad design and poor use of colour. The story is OK but rather contrived I thought, but then I don't think the Gruffolo is ALL that great either. Ultimately it's the illustrations that let this down.
