As a student at a prestigious law school in the UK, I was very unfortunate that the school picked this book to be our key text: looking back I am indeed SURPRISED that they did! Even the tutors themselves didn't like it,and anyone who skims through it can tell that it looks more like a wordy casebook than a textbook. My preparation for tutorials was ALWAYS a painful affair with this, I would have hardly made any notes at the end of hours of reading as I could never discover what I was supposed to know for an exam. As other reviews have stated, it is very long winded: the book clearly lacks structure and is a suicidal starting point for anyone starting out their first year like me. The book seems to be nothing more than copy-pasted judgements of various cases: there is hardly any explanation/theory, so if you skip reading the off-putting lengthy case bits (believe me they are a torture to read!), you end up being deceived that you have covered the 'main' bits already, when in fact you know nothing. I bought the Law Express torts book out of sheer fear after failing multiple essays in the month running up to the exams, which was when I discovered how many things I was missing out by using this book! Indeed Law Express aided me more in a month than this book did for a year, though I recommend getting some other key text instead of Law Express. Save yourself, dont buy this book.
