5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely essential for Toriphiles 28 Nov 2002

This 1998 release gives us 15 Tori Amos videos, spanning material from her first four albums. I don't watch a lot of videos these days, but Tori's almost demand to be watched, studied, and enjoyed. I can't pretend to understand all of these videos, but I love to watch them. Forgive me if I go on and on about this, but Tori is just stunningly gorgeous, possessing a natural beauty that rivals the beauty of her music.
These videos are not in chronological order, and I don't know if there is a meaning behind the arrangement. We begin with "Silent All These Years," which is marked by stop-gap photography and highly contrasting white colors toward the end, all of which gives Tori an ethereal look. The European version of Cornflake Girl is next, and I find it much superior to the American version found later in this collection. It begins and ends with Tori lying among fallen leaves, looking stunning in a white dress; the heart of the video is in black and white, and it contains a hint of a Wizard of Oz motif among a number of visual images. Past the Mission is one of those videos I don't understand very well; Tori leads two girls, a teenager and a younger girl, Spanish-type village; the women of the town follow her until they meet a priest, at which point all of the women lie prostrate on the ground for the priest to make his way past them; the village men follow the priest, and the women all walk outside of the town, seeming much happier after doing so. China is an interesting visual treat, with Tori wearing a dress made to look like the rocks of the beach she is on.
I absolutely love Raspberry Swirl. It features a dark-haired Tori in a low-cut dark dress following a young lad through a dance club, ending with a meal wherein young Tori-like girls turn into pigs.

This fantastic video features all the Tori videos from Little Earthquakes to From the Choirgirl Hotel.
The video starts with Silent All These Years. Think the piccies inside the album cover of Little Earthquakes. Silent All These Years has always been one of my favourite Tori songs if i have to pick favourites and the video didn't let the song down.
Cornflake Girl was featured twice on the Complete Videos. I thought that the U.S version was much better than the European version. Most the European version was in black and white and i found it quite boring compared to the bright colours of the U.S version. It features Tori driving a truck through a sort of desert thing with some teenage girls in the back. Every so often it goes to a scene with Tori on a roundabout in the same desert thing.
Next is Past The Mission. I can't get this video out of my head. Tori leads two girls through a village and the other village women follow her. They reach a priest and i love the way Tori goes right up to him. Then all the women lie down on the dusty floor as the priest walks over them. Then the women get up and go looking much happier. It's really strange.
In China, Tori is crawling across a pebble beach in a dress exactly like the pebbles.
Raspberry Swirl is brilliant. I find it kind of spooky. I like the bit with Tori in the elevator and when the girls turn into pigs.
Hey Jupiter was Tori looking really different and kind of un-Tori like in a burning house.
Spark was a really inspiring video. If you watch it you'll see what i mean. Tori with her arms tied behind her back and blindfolded with a man chasing her through the forest. The best bit of the song sees her swimming through a river and the blindfold comes off.

I had never seen any Tori Amos videos when I came to buy this little gem. The videos for Silent All These Years, Winter, Crucify and China are all similar in the way they are filmed, and three of them have the white "Little Earthquakes" background. The videos from "Under The Pink", Cornflake Girl (US and European versions), Pretty Good Year, Past The Mission and God are probably the most impressive and you can only watch Tori in all of them. Everything else doesn't matter! I found Caught A Lite Sneeze a bit too complex and it made for dizzy viewing. But the other "Boys For Pele" videos, Hey Jupiter and Talula, were great. Another bonus is the video versions for these two tracks are different from the album versions. The "From The Choirgirl Hotel" videos are again more complex, but Spark, Jackie's Strength and Raspberry Swirl are brilliant modern video clips. I have not seen the Tori Amos videos from 1999 onwards, but these 15 stunners will do for now!
