The team defend Earth from a deadly curse in this gripping novel from the bestselling Torchwood range

Product Description

The Hokrala Corp lawyers are back. They're suing planet Earth for mishandling the twenty-first century, and they won't tolerate any efforts to repel them. An assassin has been sent to remove Captain Jack Harkness.

It's been a busy week in Cardiff. The Hub's latest guest is a translucent, amber jelly carrying a lethal electrical charge. Record numbers of aliens have been coming through the Rift, and Torchwood could do without any more problems.

But there are reports of an extraordinary funeral cortege in the night-time city, with mysterious pallbearers guarding a rotting cadaver that simply doesn't want to be buried.

Torchwood should be ready for anything - but with Jack the target of an invisible killer, Gwen trapped in a forgotten crypt and Ianto Jones falling desperately ill, could a world of suffering be the Undertaker's gift to planet Earth?

Featuring Captain Jack Harkness as played by John Barrowman, with Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones as played by Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd, in the hit science fiction series created by Russell T Davies for BBC Television.

5.0 out of 5 stars Getting better 18 Jan 2010
This has got to be one of the best Torchwood novels. Having now read 14 of the 15 in the series, I can safely say this. Like many in the series, there is a tendency to keep skipping between various action but this makes for a natural feel to the TV series. There are at least two occasions that makes the reader exclaim, 'Of course' as an earlier unexplained portion of text falls into place towards the latter half of the book. Author Trevor Baxendale (who also wrote Something in the Water) writes a fast paced and compelling novel. Well worth a read even if you are not a Torchwood fan. The whole Torchwood series of books gets better with each new release. Recommended.

I thought Bay of the Dead was the best Torchwood novel I had read..But The Undertakers Gift beats it by miles...Trevor Baxendale..Got Jack,Ianto and Gwen brilliantaly..The story was EXCELLENT..The Hokrala Corp sending events out of control with The Almost Dead..The story flowed so well..and the closness between the three main players was superb..they fought together to save the world..and with a great twist to the ending..This novel is so amazing..Very highly recommended to any Torchwood fan..I would say Read it and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dead good 5 Jan 2011
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Having read all the other original Torchwood novels I found this to be the best of the bunch. Trevor Baxendale is a first-rate sci-fi/thriller writer who creates a great pace and provides full-blooded action and well-presented characters throughout. I agree that the ending is a bit of an anti-climax but overall this didn't detract from the fun and enjoyment of an exciting story that feels very true to RT Davies' television series.
