Book Description

8 April 2010 BBC Audio
This title includes four BBC Radio 4 dramas featuring the characters from the hit BBC TV series, as played by John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd, with Freema Agyeman. "Lost Souls" is set at CERN - the world's largest particle physics laboratory in Geneva. Voices from the past are calling out from the Large Hadron Collider, and scientists are disappearing: can Torchwood help? It is written by Joseph Lidster. It includes a bonus behind-the-scenes feature, Torchwood: All Access. "Asylum" sees PC Andy Davidson turn to Torchwood after he arrests a very unusual shoplifter. The team try to work out who Freda is and where she is from - but then she goes on the run...It is written by Anita Sullivan. "Golden Age" finds the team in Delhi, on the trail of a dangerous energy field. There they witness the simultaneous disappearance of hundreds of people, and Jack discovers that the field centres on an old colonial mansion - Torchwood India. It is written by James Goss. "The Dead Line" sees a Cardiff hospital inundated with patients who have fallen into coma-like trances. Torchwood move in to investigate, and find that the trances were triggered by phone calls, all of which were made from a number that has been inactive for thirty years...It is written by Phil Ford. 'Faultless performances from the main cast ensure these stories admirably capture the style and atmosphere of the TV show' - "Cambs Times".

3.0 out of 5 stars Short but sweet 17 Aug 2010
This box contains four Torchwood stories. Knowledge of the Torchwood universe is required to enjoy these. But then the stories mirror against your experience and recreate the buzz of watching an episode (or two).
"Lost souls" is interesting but not as thoroughly set up as the other stories. Compensation is found in the presence of Martha Jones. The LHC at CERN has punched a hole in the universe during testing and something came through. Now the scientists want to start it up at full power. "Asylum" is about finding out who a lost girl is. Nice story with a twist. "Golden Age" is the one I enjoyed the most. A bit of history for Jack, an impossible phenomenon and the team is challenged but emerge victorious (duh) though not unaffected. "The deadline" then is somewhat simpler mystery story. But still all are very much Torchwood.

3.0 out of 5 stars Radio Adventures: are great stories 16 Jan 2011
By Ali-P
I really like Torchwood but never listened to a audio before I got this and I really enjoyed it.
"Lost Souls" is brillent because of the great story and with the appearance of Martha Jones.
"The Asylum" unfortunately took a while to get into the story but it is still good.
"Golden Age" has a great storyline pluse with a little bit of Jacks past which is always a bonus.
"The Deadline" is verry good. The story could have be better but the moment with Lanto really makes it worth listering.
For anyone who is a Torchwood fan, I think its a good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars a must for those missing the tv show 17 Jan 2014

For all those missing the tv series, this helps fill the gap. Taking place between series 2 and "children of earth" these show more of a background to what happened when the series had it's first major change. The only complaint I have with these is they seem too short. They are the same length as the tv episodes, but seem much shorter (the review would have been a 5* if the stories were longer)
