This is a brilliant box set of both series 1&2 of torchwood all kept in one great looking box. If you are a Torchwood fan it is the best set to buy, all episodes and some great out takes and deleted bits that show how a scene could have been different and why they cut it, it lets you make up your own mind as to which scene would have been better or worse if left in. You can see off scene interaction between the actors and see the rapport that they have between them that make the series work on screen. Whilst it is better to be a Torchwood fan to enjoy this box set, it is also great to introduce someone to Torchwood who might have missed the whole or parts of the series, especially if you are a John Barrowman fan, who with the other actors make the show what it is, with both serious and humerous rapport. Any sci fi fan would love this, and definately any Dr Who fan. Just a little warning for those with children who think that it is going to be just like Dr Who it isn't, as there are quite a lot of adult related scenes that I feel would be worth vetting before letting youger children watch it. Otherwise a great set at a great price.

TOP 500 REVIEWERon 21 December 2008
I spend most of my time outside UK, and so have not seen much UK TV for years. I did see a DrWho episode that included Capn Jack, and one that included Torchwood on various airline in-flight entertainment.
I was seduced by the reviews and decided to buy this set - I am hooked!
The stories are great, the scripts, casting and performances are all excellent. And Naoko Mori just HAS to be one of the cutest and sexiest ladies on British TV. And to see both her and Daniela Denbe-Ashe in the same episode is just overload. I have just finished watching series 1, and I am trying to ration myself to make series 2 last longer.
I admit I had to resort to Google to figure out where I had seen Naoko before - she was one of geeky students on AbFab!
This is British TV for grown-ups at its best - still too much sex for my 88 year old mother, but hey, cant have everything!

Excellent series. Not so predictable; interesting and unusual character development; able to surprise; even takes familiar themes and twists them just enough. Can't wait for Series 3.

People my call this 'an adult spin off of Dr Who' and I suppose to some extent that is true. The simple fact of the matter is though, IT IS BRILLIANT! Start to finish it keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you watched this on TV and enjoyed it then this is just a must have.
Having said that, if I didn't own any the series, I would buy the better three seasons box set as this has series one and two plus the children of earth series. I already owned children of earth so this was the obvious buy.
A must have for Dr Who fans or in fact anyone who enjoys a an exciting series.

A Sci Fi series with a difference, storylines vary from very good to average to the very strange - but then that is Torchwood. This is not 'star wars', but if you like Sci Fi with a difference you can't go wrong with this box set - many hours of entertainment.

Capt Jack - The Face of Boe ( born in the Boeshane Peninsula ) can do no wrong - well he can but he gets away with it. Great spin off from Doctor Who, I even loved Miracle Day set in the USA. And Gwen is also great.

Purchased as a birthday present for our daughters 35th birthday party.

She has phoned to say how great the DVDs are on more than one occasion.

Much better than Dr Who!
