It has been 27 years since the Falklands War and until now this is the first time the story of the 22 Royal Marines and what happened to them on South Georgia on 3rd April 1982 has been devoted to a book of it's own.

Many books have been written about the Falklands but the actions of these men were either ignored or dismissed by a mere paragraph in most of them.

They were fighting under ridiculous odds of around 200 Argentinians to 22 RM yet still managed to down 2 helicopters and put the Argentine corvette Guerrico out of action.

My husband is one of the men photographed on the front cover and it's high time that these Royal Marines get the recognition they deserve for what they achieved!

I thouroughly enjoyed this book, the authors narrative rips along at a breathtaking pace taking the reader into the mindset of a Royal Marine Commando, if I have any criticism it's that the book is simply not long enough! The build up to the action is intense & when it came I was not disappointed, the climax was an all barrels blasting crescendo!! I would recommend this book time & time again. Stunning.

I thought most aspects of the Falklands campaign had been well covered in the thirty or so books I own on the subject but this was nevertheless a good read. It just shows what the harsh marines training routine can produce when deployed in anger. The amount of damage inflicted by a small, and outnumbered, group of Royal Marines is astonishing. It may have been a relatively minor battle in the overall scheme of things but our men did us proud and probably have not received the recognition they deserve.
