Product Description

It is 1987 and Katherine Bennet is at the height of her beauty, power and fame as star of the TV series, The Skeffingtons. But her private life is in tatters. Newly divorced, with a son who is threatening to go off the rails, Katherine promises herself and her public that she will never marry again. Katherine's lifestyle is opulent - complete with maids, butler, cook and chauffer - but it is also lonely. Great fame and beauty have isolated her. And there is also plenty of envy and back-biting from her fellow stars who seek her out for the wrong reasons. such isolation makes a woman vulnerable - especially to the wrong man. Having read Prime Time (Collins' first attempt at fiction) several years ago and mildly enjoyed it, I knew roughly what to except with this one. However, comparing the two I'm affraid that Miss Collins' seems to be on a downward spiral... Too Damn Famous had a wonky - at best - storyline and a jumpy, eratic narrative, the characters were clearly based on former Dynasty co-stars (just not as interesting) but heaven knows where she got the idea for the rest of it from. An infomercial perhaps?? If anone actually finishes the book, please let me know how it ends... I just didn't have the strength to endure the remaining 6 chapters myself!!
