This is not new material, merely a collection of his newspaper columns. This is stated at the start of the book. I have not read these newspaper columns (but have enjoyed his previous books) so new material to me.

Or was it?

Anyone who has read more than one Tony Parsons book will be familiar with the themes in the book. They are repetitive and gets boring. After about a quarter of the way into the book, chapters become a variation on a similar theme.

Not his best book, not worth buying. Get the feeling that this book was pushed out to top up his royalties.

Now I am a massive TP fan - see some other reviews of mine.
However I DO take exception for people being paid more than once for the same piece of work - be it football agents, solicitors, estate agents or columnists.

In this case I am prepared to forgive - because most of us will not be "Clarkson'd up" with regular readings of his musings in the CURRENT media. Nevertheless - the desription SHOULD make it crystal clear that this is simply an amalgam of his personally selected columns from over the years.

Does not mean these are not funny, profound and near-visionary in turn.
I dont know - I just feel a bit conned.

I have never heard of tony parsons before but i saw this book in a shop and then bought off amazon as it was cheaper.

He has some intresting views on modern life (football, politics, relationships etc).

this book is broken up into sections - i believe they may be magazine articles put together.

overall pretty good.

p.s if you ever read this tony i dont go to the cinema anymore either because well you know,
