Drawing from her own experiences and the countless stories he shared with her, she offers an insight into his life - from his early childhood and time as a choirboy in London, serving in India as an officer in the 1st Gurkha Rifles, working as a freelance artist, and, of course, his work on Vision On, Take Hart, Hartbeat, and the other programmes that made him a household name. Includes a forward by Morph (with a little help from his creator, Peter Lord, co-founder of Aardman Animations).
About the Author
Carolyn Ross was born in Westminster in 1957. She joined the BBC in 1974 as a production secretary on Parkinson, Read All About It and the Multi-Coloured Swap Shop. She later worked at Teddington Studios for the Pinewood Group. Whilst producing cartoons gratis in every job she had ever had, she finally followed in her father's footsteps when a series of drawings were accepted and produced as greeting cards in 2006. She lives with her husband and son in North Buckinghamshire.

I've just finished reading this book and I did it in a matter of hours, because I just couldn't put it down. Carolyn Ross's very frank and honest account of our hero, Tony Hart, had me close to tears with laughter and with sadness. This man who reached out to so many viewers over such a wide range of ages for such a long time was brought briefly to life again for me by her daughter's adroit observations and recollections. I commend this book to all those T.H. fans out there (even if they didn't get their pictures returned!).

Like so many others I grew up with Tony Hart and found this personal biographyabsolutely delightful. I don't think anyone has ever had a bad word to say about Tony and this smashing book certainly confirms this. It's great to discover that a person is just as nice in real life as they appear to be public. A lovely portrait of someone who was clearly a lovely man.
