Wonderful, the first of its kind,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tonkinese Cats (Hardcover)
I bought this book because I couldn't find any other detailed account of this breed. I'll certainly not bother looking for anything else on these cats because everything I wanted to know is in here! The photos are not the usual posed shots but they just confirm the reality of living with a Tonk. Why hasn't anyone ever written about these cats before - well its too late now nothing else needs to be written. Buy it, even if you don't have a Tonk!

More info than you need - it's not a bad thing,

If this book has any fault, it lies in being TOO inclusive. The author is clearly enthusiastic and knowledgeable about her subject, and the book includes many gorgeous photographs of Tonkinese cats. In addition to information about basic care of Tonks (much of which can be found in other "how to take care of cats" books), she provides an indepth history of the breed, including different type classifications in various countries, as well as genetic information helpful to breeders.I do not breed or show my Tonks; they are retired show cats I adopted from a breeder. This book provided more information than I really needed. However, it sits on my shelf just the same, as an encyclopedic reference. A great resource book for those who really love the breed.

Want to know more about Tonks? - then this is for you,
This review is from: Tonkinese Cats (Hardcover)
I am owned by rescue Tonks (Tonkinese) and had bought this book from reccomendations from Tonkinese Breeders and pet owners.Although bought primarily as a reference book, I found myself absorbed in it. Reading it from begining to end. As an owner of rescue cats I will never want to breed but I found the information given concerning breeding really interesting and written so that even a complete novice like myself could understand it. The genetics are perhaps more for the experienced breeder but even so if you are owned by a Tonkinese then you will find it fascinating how the colours, coat patterns etc. are formed. Tonkinese are such a special breed, this I have discovered since being owned by my first Tonk rescue! Their characters are just amazing, such gutsy, funny persistant personalities and loving attitude. Which is why this book was so interesting as Linda explains the breeding facts, how these little charmers have come to be the Tonkinese we know and love. The photographs are outstanding and the autors love and care about the breed shines through. A must have for any Tonkinese home.
