Leave your little one to sleep soundly with the Baby Unit nearby. Then monitor even the quietest of sounds on your Parent Unit. Wear it on your belt or place it close to hand, from the top of the house to the bottom of the garden. So, when you need some time to yourself, enjoy all the freedom and flexibility you want with all the peace of mind you need.
Working closely with parents, Tomy have produced the Walkabout Classic Advance monitor, packed with clever features – designed with you and your baby in mind.

The Advance range of monitors from Tomy features Tomy’s exclusive New Advanced System technology, with the following features:

  • 4 Channels: Selects the best channel for clear reception and the Baby Unit automatically changes to the same channel. When you next switch on, it conveniently remembers which channel was last selected.
  • 300 Metres Range: a stronger signal so the parent unit can easily be carried around the house and the garden for flexible, portable monitoring. A range of 300 metres outdoors and 50 metres indoors, in optimum conditions.


  • 2 Way Communication: Handy for when baby only needs a word of reassurance from afar, and to extend the usefulness of the product into the toddling years and beyond.
  • Privacy Guaranteed: In-built scrambling device with 65,000 unique combinations ensures other monitors in the area cannot pick up the sounds you make.
  • Volume Control: Fine tune the sound level you require, from loud to mute.
  • Sound Sensitive Lights: A display of moving lights echo the level of your baby’s sounds – useful when the volume is turned down and ideal for those quiet moments.
  • Baby’s Night Light: A comforting light on the Baby’s Unit that can be operated by both the Parent and Baby Unit. The light can be switched on or off remotely from the Parent Unit to minimise disturbance.
  • Totally Portable: Both battery-powered units are totally portable and wire free. And you can clip the Parent Unit to your belt – monitoring couldn’t be easier.

    I read that other people have had problem with this monior but we have used tomy monitors on all 3 of our kids and are currently using this one on our 7 month old and we have NEVER had problems. We have clear reception 24/7. It has the advantage of 2 settings, 1 you can have it turned on constantly or 2 where it will only come alive when your baby cries, it has multi volume levels and channels, as well as cry reacting lights and brilliant roaming range, we used that when our son was smaller and we had to nip out into the garden, no problems. In tomy we do trust and always will do, why pay stupid money when this does what you NEED and that is to hear your baby cry!

    I've had this monitor for 4 weeks and I've decided that its so unreliable I'm going to have to get another one. Its range is terrible. We have an attic bedroom and our baby's bedroom is on the floor below and it still says its out of range! Unless you've got a house with no ceilings or walls, don't bother with this one!

    I bought this monitor approx 12 months ago and have put up with the interference ever since. When I switch it on, half the time it sounds loke an aircraft landing!! The noise it makes is awful! Changing channels to no avail, all you can do is wait one minute for it to stop. You can experience the same interference at any time during the day (not happened at night .. YET!)

    Also another annoying "feature" is the fact that you have to switch on the parent monitor within 1 minute (or whatever the short time is) otherwise it loses its connection with the base monitor. End result is you have to wait until baby is fast asleep before tiptoeing back into the room and pressing the base monitor on again ... sigh.

    I bought a BT digital baby monitor when number two baby came along recently. It was the same price, but the difference .. !! 100% better! I didn't know what crystal clear sound meant, until I bought the BT one. And rechargable batteries! I shall be purchasing a second BT monitor just as soon as I've finished this review!
