I bought this for my son's 4th birthday, together with other buildings from the Hypercity range. Although this was the most expensive (although I notice it has reduced in cost since I bought it) I also found it to be better value than the smaller sets because it stays together better and has more 'things to do' such as the ramps, lift and lights/sounds.
We went for this range because it seemed to fit the gap for boys who had progressed past Little People and Duplo, but who weren't ready for Scalextric and Hot Wheels ranges and for that, it suited him perfectly.
The only two slightly negative comments I would make are about the range, rather than this specific item..... firstly when you start to collect a few, they take up a fair amount of space and are not the kind of thing you assemble to play with then take apart to put away. The second is that the smaller sets don't clip together securely so if you pick it up to move it or have a younger, very interested, sibling (as in our house!) you will be forever putting them back together. In the end, I decided to superglue as much together as I could, and that has mainly solved the problem, but I didn't expect to have to do it, I must admit.
However, my son LOVES the sets and, at the end of the day, that is the main purpose!
