The Tomica Big City Set is a fantastic playset with lots to do and discover. Complete with rail, road, pavement, girders, and sloped rail, a 2-speed Tomica train, train station platform, repair garage, Tomica Pick Up Truck, Tomi-Kid figure and other accessories such as a tree signpost. Watch as the train goes past the car, up the sloping rail, through the clear tunnel, then zooms down the sloping track until it stops at the station platform. At the Repair Garage you can raise the car on the ramp to check underneath or go into the repair shop by pressing the button on the roof. Add diecast vehicles you already own onto the road layout to create your own races and adventures. Add this set to other Tomica playsets and accessories to build up your ultimate creative world of fun and adventure.

Tomica City is the new name for Tomy Thomas Motor Road and Rail. Where as once this was based on Thomas the tank engine, in Japan and other countries there has always been a more "serious" version not based on Thomas. They are all great fun but the good thing to remember with this set is that there are 20 years of sales behind it with the Thomas sets. All of the Tomy Thomas Blue track will fit and the modern Trackmaster brown track will also fit with an adapter Tomy Trackmaster to Motor Road and Rail connector 2 pack
All of the old trains will run on this new track and the bridges, stations, tunnels and bridge supports all fit.

Easy to assemble. Fun to play with. Seems durable. My son loves it! Good train set for young children who are too old for the toddler Thomas sets but not old enough for the "serious" sets that dad would rather play with!

my son is nearly 4 and asked Father Christmas for this after seeing an Ad for it on TV. He was very pleased with it and particularly likes the train and train set.
other family members bought him additional parts of the set to go with the Big City set, e.g the fire station and police station, so he has these positioned around the train set and really likes it. (i dont know if he would have lost interest in the train and road set without the additional parts!)
we are quite pleased with the detail on the Tomica big city set and it seems pretty sturdy so far! He's spent alot of time playing with it, so all in all a good purchase!

good but noisy
The only downside I would have for these trains are the high level of noise they produce - almost to distraction. They drown out everything else!!
