My grandson was over the moon with Percy the train.

He has other track and trains from track master and is still collecting more.

Bear in mind that if you have the "Sodor Quarry Loader" that the second wagon Percy is pulling can't pass the "Sodor Quarry loader"... The wagon is too wide!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tomica's Thomas series: One of the best train toys ever. 25 Feb 2003

The Thomas series from Tomy is one of the best series of train toys I've ever seen. The combination of duribility, price and play versitility makes this toy a must for any Thomas fan. Unfortunately, Tomy has only released the majority of the Thomas series in Japan, so American consumers cannot get full value out of the series. There are dozons of rail sets and even more trains, including talking trains! Someone needs to patition Tomy to release more of this excellent toy series in the U.S.!

This is a great toy!! I would never recommend to anyone to buy wooden Thomas toys. These plastic, battery-operated versions are loads better and will grow with your child better than the wooden ones. We have a lot of this kind of stuff for our railroad. Now, if only they would only make the track look like real railroad tracks. Can't have everything, I guess.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Cute little train! 21 Oct 2005
By Ashis K. Maity - Published on Amazon.com
I got this train for my 2.5 year old boy and he simply loves it! I am very very happy with this train. The great thing about it is (unlike the wooden thomas trains) this one is battery powered (1 AA battery) and one battery lasts a long long time! Although it is all made of plastic, and looks brittle, seems to be really well made and durable -- after 3-4 weeks of my toddler playing with it, roughing with it and dropping it several times still looks and runs like new. My only complaint is that I had a hard time figuring out where and how to insert the battery. According to the instruction (1 skimpy page of vague instructions) the top of the engine had to pop open to insert the battery (no screws involved). But I could not open it (be careful dont break it), until I unscrewed the bottom and one loose piece fell off -- must have been a fluke. I screwed up the bottom w/o that piece, and then I was able to pop the top of the engine and place the battery easily. I dont know if it was a bug or a feature!! Anyways, I am very happy with it after we put the battery. Also, we had an old plastic TOMY train tracks, that this train is compatible with and so my son is very excited to see the train run on these tracks endlessly (we havent had to replace the battery yet). There is an easy on/off switch on the top of the engine that a toddler should be able to operate.
