I was really disappointed with this product as it looked great and fun to do. The quality of the product when the child needs to rub out is very poor and the pictures are still left on the board. This totally ruins the childs experience, it has been used twice since xmas, very pricy for the overall product.

a great idea but
the screen has to be SPOTLESSLY clean/dry between drawings - a bit tricky for my 4 year old, which lead to very frequent calls for 'mum' or 'dad' to clean and dry the thing. Eventually we got fed up with responding, and daughter got fed up with asking, so the toy now lies unused and unwanted in the corner.
3 pens are'nt enough.
spare pens retail at £8.00 delivered!
supplied eraser was a bit fiddly and flimsy and not really very good.
I said to my wife a week after xmas 'this thing is a pain, you wait, it'll half price b4 you know it just so tomy can get rid of them'
Check out the argos web-site - these things are currently half-price...

I came across Tomy's Lumi Sketcher after a desperate attempt to find an 'arty' Christmas gift different from the usual pens, paints, crayons, etc, for my 5 year old. This battery operated sketching pad differs from others on the market in that one actually uses real pens to draw, rather than knobs and stampers. Three coloured neon pens are supplied (replacements are available by contacting the manufacturer's careline) and these are used to draw directly on to the sketching screen. Two stencils are supplied for more possibilities. Once their 'work' is completed the child can see it light up at the touch of a button. Special effects can make images flash and dance across the screen at different speeds. Drawings are best viewed in a darkened area to see the full 'glow-in-the-dark' effect. Sketchings are removed by using the eraser provided, which is similar to a child's blackboard rubber. The Lumi Sketcher can be wall-mounted, which is a plus, though it would be useful if a small ledge could be available at the bottom of the pad so that pens can be placed here when it is used vertically. When used horizontally pens can be placed in the three holders at the side of the pad, which could do with being a shade smaller so the pens don't wobble about or fall over. Alternatively, they can be stored in a much more useful recess in the pad which remains covered when not in use.

This is a great tool for stimulating children's creativity - I know my daughter will love seeing her artwork come alive.
