This is a good basic guide (and not American), but not comprehensive to fitting a bathroom, Far too many pages on what bathrooms look like (brochures are free), what tools look like and pictures of Tommy. It covers most subjects but from only one ideal aspect, any complications in your project would leave you with questions, experts invariably leave out the obviouse. And talking of experts this guide tells you to leave the tricky stuff like electrics to the experts! Whether you feel up to it or not that"s not a DIY guide. The world is not perfect and Its a shame you have to learn about tricky fittings and options in the shop and not in the book.

I purchased Tommy Walsh's bathroom DIY guide in preparation for doing up my bathroom, I simply needed to install a new toilet, one with a built in radio and modify my bath tub to a walk in bath for my crippled mother who lost the use of both arms and one leg following an incident ivolving my use of Tommy Walsh's kitchen DIY guide.

To my astonishment this guide does not even include any instructuions on altering a bath tub to a walk in bathtub. undeterred i obtained my chainsaw from the garden shed in my living room (built using Tommy Walsh's essential shed guide)and proceeded to 'get to work'. The bath being filled with water however led to the electrocution of my dog alfred ( already blind from my time spent using Tommy Walsh's idiots guide to plumbing) his death serves as a timely reminder to all that safety guidelines should be properly displayed in DIY guides. I also got water all over the floor and broke my chainsaw which was now stuck in the bathroom floor. the fingers i had lost i re-attached with selotape (taken from Tommy Walsh's guide to minor orthopaedic surgery).

I was dumbfounded to find that this guide also did not contain any information on installing a toilet with a radio in it. I improvised by first hitting my old toilet with a hammer and then shouting at it as loud as i could, i decided i needed my ladders which i fetched and carried into the bath room over my shoulder. my brother came in and said my name, i turned around and he ducked, i couldn't see him and therefore assumed he must be the other way, i swung round and as he stood back up i accidently knocked him through the bathroom window.

my mother then came up the stairs to see what the commotion was about on the stairlift i had installed for her (using Tommy Walsh's guide to stairlift installation)3/4 of the way up the electrics gave out and the stairlft went crashing to the bottom of the stairs sending her flying the full lenght of the hallway. luckily her fall was broken by my new Tommy Walsh's tollbox set but unfortunatly one of my Tommy Walsh multipurpose 10mm screwdrivers went into her eye which had to be subsequently removed - using my Tommy walsh electric floor sander.

my brother was in a coma for 3 months which led right up to his birthday, i purchased him Tommy Walsh's DIY guide for long term hospital patients.

I eventually solved my toilet problem by gaffer taping a casette player to the bog, during this process my mother unfortunatly ingested some toilet duck after i accidently fired a 'shell' containing the cleaner at her through a shotgun.

after this i gave up on Tommy Walsh's bathroom DIY guide and had a professional tradesperson come to do the tiling. he was unfortunatly killed after my recently erected car port (built using Tommy Walsh's guide to car port construction) collapsed and fell on him crushing all but 3 of his bones.

overall 1 star for this amateurish DIY guide.
