Product Description

Individually twists & wraps nappy to lock in odour

The innovative nappy disposal system from Tommee Tippee offers anti-bacterial protection from germs and odours, individually sealing each nappy away in seconds. The tub holds up to 28 nappies too, conveniently storing nappies for fewer trips to the bin. The system is easy to set up, easy to use and easy to empty, meaning you can spend less time changing and more time with baby.

Germ Protection

The antibacterial film kills 99% of germs on contact and offers unbeatable odour protection, whilst the disposal system locks in odour in a multilayer antibacterial film

Easy to Use

The nappy disposal system is easy to use with no fuss or mess as the Easi-Push plunger pushes the nappy into the bin so you don’t have to. To dispose, simply cut the film using the inbuilt cutter, tie a knot and it’s ready to empty.

We own both this model as well as the older model (purple top). Although both do the job of making diaper disposal easy and mess and odor free, the new model is better in most regards.
Pros
- Less use of plastic in the disposable cassette. The old model was a real environmental criminal
- Tighter packing of the diapers. We can easily get 20+ small diapers in the bin, almost twice as many as the old model. Further, there is a lot less bag used (probably 50% less) per diaper in the new model because of the improved wrapping technique
- No need to push the bag down to create a new drop zone for the next diaper - the lid takes care of that task

Cons
- There is still a lot of waste in the plastic cartridge
- The knob to turn the bag is a lot easier to use in the old model

Hints
- Turn the knob two full turns. It uses almost no extra bag but helps to create a nice tight "sausage"
- Push the diaper down far enough so the plastic fingers grip it - this will ensure that the bag twists above it
- When you tie a new bag, loop it into the bag hook under the lid. This will make sure that the first few diapers don't fall all the way to the bottom, wasting bag.

Update: May 24, 2011: As the baby grows older (over eight months now), this bin has turned into a real disappointment. The room that it is in has an odor, and opening it is displeasurable, and the odor that is present in the bottom (when taking out the "sealed" bag) is an eye-watering experience. I don't know of a good alternative, but since it is not doing its job very well and the inserts cost an arm and a leg, I'm knocking off two stars, so four stars down to two. I have no problem paying for things that do what they advertise, but this fails.

I like this product because it does what it says -- makes nappies go away. There are a few of these on the market, it was tough choosing among them. But the Tippee sangenic one is great.
a) easy to open with one hand
b) easy to put the nappy into (although you do have to push it in ALL the way)
c) our baby is almost 6 weeks old and we've gone through three of the bag cassettes, so you don't have to refill that often.
d) no smell
e) emptying easy, just pop the top off, unhook the bag, and dump it
f) easy to reset it once you've followed the instructions (even my wife can do it)
g) easy to clean, we just have some antibacterial wipes, the whole thing is smooth plastic so you can just wipe it and go.

Only thing I wish is that the bin attached was 50% bigger; you do end up emptying the attached bin just about every 3 days or so. But I guess there's a tradeoff between size (you can sneak this pretty much anywhere in the nursery) and my laziness.

Good product.

With a new baby, the last thing you need is dirty nappies all over the place as there is so much else going on!

This neat little nappy bin seals all the detritus away and is easy to use.

Loading up the first disposal cartridge can be a bit of a challenge as the instructions seem over complicated (it really is more straightforward than the instructions make it look) but once you have done it, the next time is a breeze (I suggest doing this before you have to change your first nappy).

Once the nappy and other rubbish is in the top you push it down with the big stopper inside the lid and then twist the bag round with the handle, sealed and ready for the next load. If only washing was as easy!

It comes with 6 cartridges which should keep you going for roughly a month. The only minus seems to be the price of replacement cartridges and the fact that it could be about a 1/3 bigger to save emptying it so quickly, but you probably don't want to have a bin full of dirty nappies hanging around too long anyway, even if they are sealed.

I would definitely recommend this starter pack if you are looking to get one of these because of the number of included cartridges and Tommee Tippee stuff is well made.

I bought the Sangenic disposal system after getting fed up with the constant price increases on the Angelcare cartridges. I'm pleased to say it was the right decision. Not only are the Sangenic cartridges cheaper, they're also available on Subscribe and Save, unlike the Angelcare ones. In every other respect I've found both systems to be pretty much the same. The cartridges last about the same duration and both bins can store roughly the same amount (though the Sangenic seems to require emptying less often). I've seen a few reviews here complaining about the smell - I havent really had an issue with either system smelling unless its full to the brim, and even then it's fine once you empty it. My son is 10 months so is well into the stinky nappy stage. Though I tend to bag the nappies before they go into the bin.

Convenient and smell free. Holds a lot of nappies. However, replacement cartriges are a little expencive.concidered using a normal bag to line this bin but it didnt prevent the nappy bin smelling so needed new cartriges

Admittedly when I first saw this bin I thought to myself that it was an overpriced bin and that I could quite happily get by with my usual swing bin and roll of bin liners.

Then the lovely summer weather arrived (the type that's completely alien to the UK!) and then the room had heat. And the most awful smell. So I emptied the bin and resolved I would change it more often, every day in fact. It still didn't resolve the smell as it would begin to smell funky by evening even though changed earlier that day. So I thought I would take each nappy (in a nappy sack) to the bin outside and put it in a binbag inside. Ha...that worked all of a few hours before the novelty wore off.

So I thought I would chance it and see what all the fuss was about and purchased a glorified overpriced bin. Then I used it.

I take it all back, This is the best invention ever!! Take the nappy, push it through the slot and turn the wheel. Gone, wrapped up within the liner and absolutely no smell whatsoever. Best of all it comes with 6 months worth of cassettes.

I can't believe I went so long without one! So easy to use and best of all saves having to endure the stomach churning smell of emptying the nappy bin!

Absolutely recommended; every parent should have one!!! If in doubt, buy it. I promise you won't regret it!!!
