Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This is an ingenious idea/invention by Tommee Tippee although as many reviewers have stated in their reviews this unfortunately is not without a couple of shortcomings which if addressed and 'fixed' by Tommee Tippee would definitely make this an excellent baby product to own. It is for these couple of issues that I will mention below that I have marked it down a star rating.

When you first unpack the machine you need to complete a cleaning cycle to ensure that the machine itself is clean and ready for filtering your tap water. This process took about 20 minutes rather than the advertised 10 minutes in the instruction booklet as the water tank seems to take a bit of time for the water to fill all of the way through the water filter into the bottom section of the water tank. However this in my opinion was not a negative to the product but I just thought I would mention it in case another person thinks like I did that I was doing something wrong. The instruction booklet is very clear with a step by step process (and pictures too) and describes how to set up the machine and do the cleaning cycle along with how to actually use the machine, how to stop it if needed, maintenance and descaling so I was quite impressed with the clear and easy to follow instruction leaflet.

The machine has a cleaning mode and de-calc/de-scale mode which I thought is a brilliant idea and saves you having to faff around with de-scaling products. The machine is also very clever in that it detects when these things needs to be done and alerts you to the fact by lighting up one of the corresponding warning lights. The machine also indicates when the water level is low in the water tank to enable you to fill it, when the water tank is hot and when the filer needs changing.

This bottle maker is worth every penny. I could not imagine how I would make all the bottles for my hungry crying baby, especially at night. This bottle maker takes a minute and give a milk the right temperature. This saves me a lot of time which I can spend with my baby. Its perfect. I am so happy that I purchased it after hesitations due the price. You won't regret it.

As a first time mum, I was a little overwhelmed with the bottle making process after my health visitor made feel about 2 inches tall when I advised I was filling bottles and storing them in the fridge. I was introduced to the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep machine and I can honestly say after using it for 6 months, I could not live without it!! There are many technical reviews so I will review based on everyday use.

The machine can make a bottle from 4 ounces up to 11 ounces. PLEASE NOTE the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep dispenses the specified ounces of water. Therefore, the finished bottle can actually be up to a ounce more with the combination of formula and water.

To make a bottle, simply put the formula into the bottle and place on the machine bottle stand (which is adjustable) and press the on button. This will dispense a boiling hot shot of water into the bottle designed to kill any bacteria within the formula and beep once complete, giving you approximately 60 seconds to swirl/mix the formula and water together. You then return the bottle to the bottle stand and press the on button (which is illuminated red) again and it will fill the bottle to the specified Oz with cool filtered water. Once complete, it will beep again confirming the bottle is ready and the button turns green.

The milk temperature of a made bottle is room temperature. My son has never refused a bottle from the machine as he has always only drank room temperature bottles. I believe if you are making the transition from heated bottles to bottles made from the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep, you may need to heat them at first until your little one adjusts.

I cannot sing the praises of this excellent device highly enough. It is an absolute godsend that has hugely improved the quality of our lives.

At the time of writing (2013) the guidelines for making up milk feeds for infants is that feeds be made fresh, boiling water must be added to the formula to make the feed up, then the feed cooled down before giving it to the baby. We discussed with our community midwife the possibility of making up feeds in advance and storing them in the fridge, but apparently this is really frowned upon these days as bacteria can form in the milk.

This provides some problem for the feeds, especially at night. And the main problem is time. The feeds need to be made up fresh, but boiling the kettle then holding the bottle under a running tap to bring it down to a suitable temperature can take up to 20 minutes. And at three in the morning while you have an infant in your arms absolutely screaming for food this can be very very frustrating. Not only that, but the tap water required to cool the bottle down is very wasteful and this can cost a fortune if you are on a meter.

Enter the Tommee Tippee perfect prep. It will make up a feed of between 4 and 12 fluid ounces AT THE CORRECT TEMPERATURE in 2-3 minutes. And it is designed so that sterility and your baby's health are not compromised. It's a work of genius.

To prepare the feed you place the bottle under the nozzle and press the button. A dose of hot water is poured into the bottle. Add the required amount of powder and give it a good shake. Place back under the nozzle, press the button again and now cold water is added to the required volume, cooling the feed. And that's it, job done.
