I bought this pump regardless of the mostly negative reviews, and its been really good.
My breast-feeding counselor gave me the best advise - USE WITHOUT THE PLASTIC COLLAR!! The collar is designed for smaller breasts and isn't needed. Get rid of the collar and just use the hard plastic bit, and you'll be amazed at how powerful the pump is. I can only go up to setting 2 as the suction is really good.
There are lots of bits to put together, but after the first few attempts its really quick to assemble now, and I like the idea of being able to give every little piece a good wash.
I can express a lot of milk in 5 minutes on each side, and the little storage pots are useful.
I use it on the mains (not batteries) and have not noticed any reduction in performance as mentioned by some other reviewers.
Yes, its a bit noisy, just put a towel over the unit to muffle the sound.
Highly recommended at a great price.

When my husband first bought me this pump it was for me to use to pump a few bottles so he could help with feeding our little one. However, our son had problems breastfeeding and we reluctantly realised that we would have to switch to bottles. I really wanted to give him expressed breast milk so I began to pump a lot! I found that I could pump enough for him, but it took a long time and some of the milk leaked back... Then I read a review on amazon which said to remove the the soft plastic collar. I did so and couldn't believe the difference! I could express a full feed (6 ozs) in 10-20 minutes! And it didn't leak! I used this pump to pump exclusively for my baby for 8 weeks. I then rented a hospital grade pump because when baby was poorly we realised how quiet they are and husband couldn't take the loud motor noise any more (it is very loud).

So, if you can tolerate the noise and some discomfort of not using the soft shield I'd say it's great, especially at the price!

I was highly disappointed with this product. Having purchased other Tommee Tippee products, all of which have been excellent, my wife and I found this product exceptionally noisy despite being described on the box as discreet and quiet. The item itself works ok, however the Avent electric breast pump is far superior and much quieter.

Purchased this product as the manual pump by tommee tippee was useless and didn't work well at all. This pump is much better, you have to persevere though and not expect too much straight away. It takes me about an hour to pump 4oz (120ml)
Very noisy but have got baby used to noise so he sleeps right through

This pump is great, very strong (if as stated by another reviewer you take off the silicone cover which is easily done).
I bought mine in the Mothercare sale recently and it has been great. It stays attached so you can rest it on your knee and use both hands.
The only downside is that the bottle that collects the milk does not have a lid for storage. I transfer mine into another bottle for this so it isn't a huge problem. I had looked at lots of pumps as I have twins and wanted a double but the cost was too much. This one is small and powerful and does the job.

Oh good grief this is the WORST pump out there! I was given it as a gift for my first baby and it was just atrocious! Being a first time mum I knew no different- I thought 2oz in 30mins must be the average so I just stuck it out. Inevitably I suffered the same problems as others (back flow in the tube, noise, intermittent cutting out...) so reverted to the TT manual pump which was even worse, then simply hand expressing- the most successful option- I could get 8oz in 15 mins!
I have just had my second baby and have bought a Lansinoh Affinity Pro double electric pump which is fantastic, it is virtually silent, pain free, and I can express 2 5oz feeds in 10 mins. I wish I'd known about this one before!

I developed mastitis decided to buy an electric breast pump to help resolve it. I initially bought a Medela Mini Electric based on the reviews and was disappointed, I found it painful to use. The Tommee Tippee breast pump was half price in Mothercare and we had vouchers too (I paid £27 for it), so I decided to give it a go despite the reviews it received here. I was very impressed with it. The silicone sleeve made it gentler on my sore and inflamed breast and it was easy to express whilst massaging. The main complaints in other reviews were that it was difficult/fiddly to put together. I didn't have this problem at all, I found it easy to clean and put together after I had done it once. The other complaint is that moisture creeps up the air tube and causes the pump to malfunction. I admit that water and condensation does creep up the air tube, no matter how well you dry the parts. I've had this pump for 2 months now and have used it on a regular basis, so far I haven't found this to be a problem (I pump for between 15 and 30 minutes) and the air tube dries out quickly. The only (minor) problem I have with this pump is that now my mastitis has resolved I find that the suction isn't strong enough on the highest setting to express efficiently. This can be improved by removing the silicone sleeve. I feel this pump has been much maligned, for moderate use this pump is ideal.
