Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature 150ml / 5floz Feeding Bottles
With Closer to Nature’s award-winning range of BPA-free bottles, switching between breast and bottle feeding is easy. Tommee Tippee has designed the easy-latch-on teat shape with breastfeeding experts to mimic the natural flex, stretch and movement of a mum’s breast. Together with the bottle’s super-sensitive valve, this encourages your baby’s intuitive feeding action for comfortable, relaxed feeding.
With a revolutionary teat, developed with breastfeeding experts and mums to mimic the breast's natural flex, stretch and movement, Closer to Nature bottles makes feeding time easy for mum and baby.
Soft Silicone Teat
The soft silicone teat feels like skin, and gently elongates and flexes during feeding to mimic natural breastfeeding action.
Three-way Compact Shape
The compact shape of Closer to Nature bottles allows baby to feed in a natural position and to be closer to mum or dad. The easy-hold bottle can be held in three ways -- cradled comfortably in the hand, gripped in the same way as a traditional wide neck bottle, or held from the base -- making feeding comfortable for everyone.
All the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles are BPA-free for total reassurance.
Super Sensitive Easi-Vent Valve
The slow-flow teat with a super sensitive valve eliminates excessive air flow, so little ones ingest more milk and less air.
The breast-like larger shaped teat of the Closer to Nature bottle allows baby to latch on easily and further supports the transition between bottle and breast.
Easy to Clean and Use
Closer to Nature bottles and teats are easy to clean and fill. They are microwave and dishwasher safe, yet light and easy to hold. The easy-hold bottle is marked in millimetres and ounces and has a hygiene seal cap to keep germs out and drips in.
The Closer to Nature feeding bottle range is available in a 150ml/5floz and 260ml/9floz option, along with a decorated option. All bottles are available in a variety of pack sizes and teats come in different flow rates. The entire Closer to Nature range is an interchangeable system. Bottles fit directly with Closer to Nature breast pumps, into the sterilisers and bottle warmers, offering parents everything they need to feed a newborn.
Choosing the Right Teat for Your Baby
The Closer to Nature teat can be bought in a slow, medium, fast and vari-flow option. You can select the flow rate most suited to your babies needs at every stage.
All Closer to Nature teats are supplied with an age range; this acts as a guide only as every baby is different and will develop at different rates. The flow rate can be located on the actual teat in the form of a number. One is slow, two is medium and three is fast flow.
There are separate teats for the Vented and Advanced Comfort bottle ranges. These teats do not feature the easi-vent valve as they have a unique tube and valve system to provide optimum venting during feeding. The teats are clearly labeled with an “Anti-Colic” mark on the teat and the packaging has a green background to help distinguish the range.
Signs that your baby is ready to progress onto the next teat are when they try to suck harder to get milk more or become frustrated and tired during feeds. It is recommended to change your teats every four to six weeks or at the first sign of any wear and tear.

Aesthetically the bottle looks cute. Made from BPA free plastic with a silicone teat is has the volume measurements printed on ( oz and ml) and the Tommee Tippee logo also.
Functionally the bottle works like any other bottle. It has an air vent on the teat. It assembles, dismantles and sterilises easily.
The problem I found is that a significant amount of milk wells up in the top of the bottle and it's almost impossible to tip this into the teat to feed to the baby, so there's a significant amount of wastage, maybe half an ounce. This may not seem like a big deal, but to a breastfeeding mum who is expressing her own milk for her baby, this is a large amount of milk. For volumes up to 2oz there are small milk storage pots, which fit snugly into the bottle and prevent this problem, so I used these as my breastfed daughter only required a small volume of milk from a bottle.
The other problem I had, which is personal and no reflection on the bottle is that the teat is quite stiff and my daughter found it difficult to extract the milk.
Ideal for bottlefeeding babies who are taking large volumes of milk, but there are better bottles available for breastfed babies who are having the occasional bottle of expressed breast milk, for example the Breastflow bottle. However, this is a cute wee bottle and can be used easily with all the other items in the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature product range. They're also really well priced and you can often buy them up to half price.
The negative - they lose stars for being very small. You will need to buy the larger sized bottles within a few months so save your money and buy the 260ml bottles instead, don't waste your money on these (as cute and dinky as they are).
Firstly... Because of the design, when baby is getting to the bottom of the bottle, you have to practically hold it vertical in order to tip the remnants of the feed to the top. This is fine when they are titchy but as they get bigger, not so much.
Secondly... My daughter never got to grip with cups, she likes her juice out of a bottle. She found these bottles very difficult to hold herself. They are too wide and she cant get her hands around them without getting herself into a muddle. That combined with the other vertical tipping issue and we have all kinds of problems.
In short, brilliant from breast to bottle and until your little one wants to be independent.
And it seems impossible to get the last half oz out of the bottle which not only frustrates my baby it also frustrates me.
I cant reccomend this product but all babies are different.
Recently, my sister bought these for me and now that my daughter is 4 mts, she uses the 3+ medium flow teats and took to this bottle straight-away. She has no problem with me breastfeeding her and also giving her the bottle, such a relied for me! It is a case of trial and error and not every baby will take to a particular brand straight-away. Once I wean my daughter I will try and give her the Avent bottle and I am sure she will be ok with them in the near future!
These neat little bottles advertise that `no other bottle is closer to breast feeding', and they hold up to their claim. The dainty nipple shaped teat is beautifully soft. The bottle shape is also very easy and comfortable to hold. These bottles are certainly ideal for mother's who wish to combine bottle and breast feeding or for progressing from the breast to the bottle. However, like all baby's bottles not all bottles/teats suit all babies, but I would certainly recommend these and give them a 4 out of 5 star rating.
