Our son is a big and hungry baby, and we didn't want to move him onto the Stage 2 teats too early. The vari-flow teat provided the perfect in-between solution. Now he's big enough for the next-size teat, we haven't had to replace them, and we've saved a lot of money! He's a far more efficient feeder on the vari-flow teats, and this keeps him much happier. (He now gets through 8oz in about 15-20 minutes.)
One thing: the teat is quite large. It was fine for our big, hungry baby, but smaller babies and newborns would struggle with it.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the vari-flow teats for hungry babies. They saved us a lot of hassle and a lot of money!

My baby was breastfed for six months until we had to switch to bottle feeding for medical reasons. She did not get on well with either the slow or fast flow teats, but took to the variflow teats very well. They have an X cut in the tip rather than a single hole, allowing the rate of flow to change depending on how hard the baby sucks, which is supposed to be more like breastfeeding, so that may have helped her to make the transition.
My only complaint about this product is that the vents sometimes stick after they've been steam sterilized, so that the teat collapses in on itself as my baby sucks, and she has to stop drinking to allow air back in to the bottle. It is very annoying when it happens and I haven't figured out a way to unstick the vents whilst keeping the teat sterile yet, but it only seems to be a problem for the first few uses of a new teat anyway.

This teat did not work for my 5 week old son like it states. I may as well have poured the bottle into his mouth because I am sure more milk was being lost out of the mouth than he was actually swallowing. The flow was far too fast for my son to cope with so didn't end up using them for very long. I may try them again when he is far older but for now not such a good buy. I bought the next size up instead (size 2) and these did a much better job.

Not great

Tommee tip top again..!
Excellent product for thicker formulas also found to be cheapest on amazon :) would highly recommended this product to other mums and expectant mothers

great product, my son doesn't fall asleep whilst drinking his milk now :) and eats alot more so sleeps through the night aswell :)

Safe teats
If you don't want your baby to choke, these are the safest teats. The baby adapts very easily and as it is a big teat the baby likes it because it is similar to mother's nipples.

Variflow nipples are quite big - your baby could refuse.
I bought about 4 of these variflow teats when my baby was 7 weeks old as we were feeding her thick formula. It took her 2 days to get used to the rate of flow. Read more
