I recently purchased this monitor to replace an ancient Tomy analogue baby monitor, and I must admit that the price / review combination swayed me.
This monitor is really very good- it's really well made, with clear display of the temperature in the baby's room, and a night light that can be turned on/off (and dimmed) with the parent unit. The parent unit is battery operated, and has an excellent range & sound quality, owing to the DECT system it uses... It works a treat in my house, which is pretty old, with thick walls. The WiFi chokes loads, but this unit works a treat.
It's also worth mentioning the page function - you can use the baby unit to sound an alarm on the parent unit, if you can't find it. There are also LED indicator lights across the top of the parent unit - so if you turn the volume right down, you still get a visual read on whether your baby is distressed. You can also talk back - use the parent unit to talk to your baby... although it just freaks mine out.
I have to say though, that the parent unit has a power saving feature, where it will cut out to save power if the noise coming from the baby is below a threshold. This is not mentioned in the instructions, or feature list on the box. I emailed Tommy Tippee to get an answer, and they confirmed that it is a feature of the product. Now, I think this is a bit poor, especially as I had no way of knowing if the unit was faulty or not- and after waking up to noises that my baby was making, without the baby monitor picking it up I have to say I was very disappointed with this product. However, after receiving the email from customer service, I tried adjusting the sensitivity of the parent unit and moved the baby unit closer to the cot - and I'm happy to report that the monitor now picks up baby beautifully.
If only they had included a line in the instructions that said it'd cut out if the sensitivity wasn't set ;-)
This hiccup shouldn't stop you getting this monitor if you're looking at it. I'm very pleased with the product - although Tommy Tippee loose a star for my experience (and slightly dismissive reply).

I'm adding to this review because I thought an update might be a good idea after using it for nearly a month. With the new sensitivity settings, this is a *great* monitor. Still 4 stars, because I think the experience before stands. Also, the batteries take AGES to recharge, and there is no way they last 8 hours. Maybe with a really low sensitivity, but I'd say we get 3-4... which is useful enough.

I bought this as I wanted a monitor with rechargeable batteries as my current tommy tippe monitor was costing a fortune in batteries. All in all it's pretty good, however it takes a long time to charge and is not as sensitive as my last monitor. I turned the sensitivity levels up and I can hear my baby when he is awake, but I don't always hear him stirring - which isn't always a bad thing!
I couldn't find the light at first - it's on the back of the monitor? But I don't really use the light feature. It's nice knowing the temperature in my sons room and I like the belt clip. I only tried the talk back feature once but it totally terrified him! I would recommend this monitor :)

Well worth the expense, the sound is completely clear, and no buzzing in the background, like our much older monitor! Really good to be able to speak to the children too. Highly recommended.
