This book was like a trip down memory lane for me. I remember my dad growing a whole host of vegetables and fruits in our garden when I was growing up and just reading this book again and seeing the pictures reminded me of the plum tomatoes and cherry tomatoes that my dad used to grow. In thinking about it now nothing beats home-grown food, for some reason it always Tastes so much different. This is a really good book to guide you through all the different varieties of tomatoes that can be grown, the way in which they need to be cared for, advice on how to water as well as deal with pest control. If you looking for an introduction book into growing your own and you want a simple project to do you children and this could be a great starting point for you.

I read this book with my daughter who is growing tomatoes this year. We are now in search of different types of tomatoes seeds so that we can have red, yellow and orange tomatoes. Definitely a book which will interest children to have a go at growing vegetables.

This book covers everything from seeds, fertilizing and containers. I have tried to grow tomatoes before and have failed miserably but I know now it's because I didnt follow the detailed account in this book. I am very positive that I will succeed this time as James details thoroughly the process along with great photos! I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book on Container Gardening 16 Mar 2014
By Mark M - Published on Amazon.com
James Wood has written an excellent book on container gardening. I am an absolute beginner, and have only "wished" to start a container garden in my apartment. I want to grow tomatoes to eat and as an activity for my kids and me to do. This book hand holds me through the entire process, from seeds to seedlings, logistics, containers, planting, fertilising, watering, pests, and just about everything else you would need to get started. There are also many high quality images throughout this book, which is a big help in understanding. I highly recommend James Wood's book.

I loved the story of James childhood where he talks about how his love for tomotoes began. The pictures of the different varieties of tomatoes were aptly placed for reference. James has done a wonderful job in answering all the questions a potential tomato Grandner would have. To sum it up - if you are a tomato lover - please grab a copy of this book - You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you Need to Know 20 Mar 2014
By Lysanne P. - Published on Amazon.com
I got this book because I have a hardtime with the tomatoes I have been planting in the garden in the past few years. After reading this book, I will definitively use containers to grow my tomatoes from now on. This book is very detailed and all thei nformation about growing your tomatoes in containers is explained in detail. I really liked the chapter on how to choose the right kind of tomatoes plant and seeds versus seedling. Well done.
