Product Description

tomandwill gig bags combine instrument protection and affordability in a range of exciting colours and designs and are intended to fit curved soprano and sopranino saxophone models. Our 33CSX soprano saxophone bag has a soft lined interior with 20mm of padding. On the outside of the bag there is an external anti scuff rubber pad to prevent damage to the bag itself.

tomandwill gig bags are manufactured to withstand the rigors of gigging or school life. Carrying comfort is guaranteed thanks to the padded backpack straps, GripEZE handle and top grab handle. The bag has an external pocket suitable for reeds and other smaller accessories.

tomandwill gig bags have strong zippers with custom rubber pulls that open almost the full length of the bag, making it quick and easy to put your instrument away. The pair of zips is coupled with a Velcro strip to keep the bag securely closed.

I bought this bag based on the same one for tenor sax (and I like that bag a lot). This one looks just like the tenor version, but it has two fundamental flaws.

    QUALITY
There's no faulting the quality of this bag. It oozes class, and it will protect your sax from superficial bumps. It also has a rubber bottom, which prevents the bottom of the bag getting wet or slipping. If ratings were based purely on quality, the this bag would've received 5 stars without question.

    FITTING
This is where the bag loses a star. A soprano sax will fit in the bag quite snugly, which is a good thing. However, it's very tricky getting the accessories bag to also fit in the bag with your sax. And yes, you DO need the accessories bag because that's where the crook and mouthpiece go, not to mention your reeds, cork grease, and cleaning cloth. I'm surprised Tomandwill didn't think of putting a small pocket on the 'front' of the bag instead - that way, you could stow your crook and mouthpiece without having to cram it in the main body.

    FURTHER STORAGE
This is where the bag loses yet another star. On the 'back' of the bag, there is a "pocket" for storing other things. You can't put your crook and mouthpiece in there, as it'll lodge against your back when you wear the bag on your back. Therefore, it's only good for flat things like books. Unfortunately, the pocket can't even hold A5 sized books or paper, never mind a folded A4 book, so it's a useless pocket. Considering the bag is supposed to be worn as a backpack, I'm surprised Tomandwill couldn't stick an A4-sized pocket, which wouldn't hamper the design of the bag, and it could then hold your music books.

    SHOULD I BUY IT?
Yes - if you want a light bag that'll protect your curved soprano sax from nicks and bumps
No - if you need storage space for books or you don't want something that's way too snug a fit

Comfortable, padded, offering great protection for the sax and very easy to carry around. It is not easy to find a lightweight bag for the Soprano Sax but this is a great bag and a great price too.
