Agree with the previous reviewer, this TMC receiver works about a 1000% better than the old ones, does not need to be clipped to the windscreen and seems to get much better reception, in the Midlands and the Southeast anyway. Should work much better in France where even the old one worked pretty well for the autoroutes.

Does the job intended 12 Feb 2012
I purchased this because I travel across London a great deal and quite often my favourite routes are often blocked for whatever reason. Traffic reports on the radio are fine but generally limited, so I needed sometime a little more reactive to traffic problems.

The TMC receiver does the job very well; like all such data collection devices, it's only as good as the information it receives so its important to take the information as guidance and not absolute.

As other people have said there are times when the signal is lost when travelling in remote areas - Dartmoor for example - but since these areas are not prone to long hold-ups or congestion, it's not a problem!

Not convinced... 24 Feb 2011
The jury's still out on this device. The aerial is in the power cable and the data comes via the Classic FM wavelength. It acquires and keeps its signal well in populated areas, but can lose touch for long periods of time in rural areas (e.g. the Welsh Marches). Even when it's got reception, the information is often inadequate and I've several times wound up in long queues that it should have warned me about. This is the fault of the data providers rather than TomTom, but it does limit the usefulness of the device quite seriously.
