TomTom GO 60 — 6″ sat nav with Lifetime Maps of UK & ROI & Lifetime Traffic — Smartphone connected

TomTom Traffic gets you there fastest*

The traffic situation on our roads changes constantly. Traffic jams can occur in a matter of seconds and last for hours. Driving during peak time traffic can double the time you spend on the road. In London, drivers with a 30 minute daily commute are stuck in traffic for 84 hours per year. That equates to 10.5 working days!**

With the all new TomTom GO, you will drive with the most precise real-time information available. Every new TomTom GO comes with Lifetime TomTom Traffic, so you will always reach your destination faster.

What is Smartphone Connected?

Get TomTom Traffic via your smartphone with Bluetooth connection.

Smartphone Connected devices use your existing smartphone data plan to access TomTom Traffic as well as other services like TomTom Speed Cameras.

On average, if you drive for an hour per day during peak time traffic, you will use approximately 7MB data per month. This is less than the equivalent of downloading or streaming 2 music tracks per month (which use around 5MB each).

If you plan to travel abroad and want to use TomTom Traffic, be aware that additional costs can be incurred on your phone as roaming will need to be switched on to continue to receive traffic information. Check your data plan and/or contact your network provider for more information on costs for roaming.

Compatible smartphones:

  • iPhone iOS 6 or later
  • Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or later
  • BlackBerry Z10

Get TomTom Traffic on a Smartphone Connected device in four simple steps:

  1. Tap “Traffic & Speed Cameras” in the main menu of your TomTom GO

---- UPDATED (24/12/14) REVIEW BEGINS ----

*** I try to update this review regularly, but to see the full list of software updates, visit the TomTom website here http://bit.ly/VtrbFW. ***

This is an in depth product review (updated after almost 18 months use) for TomTom's premium navigation device, the GO 6000 (but will also largely apply to any of the GO X0, GO X00 and GO X000 devices - for this reason, I have also placed this review within their respective pages). My aim is to provide an honest viewpoint that will help you make a decision about purchasing, whether you're a complete newcomer to sat-navs, or use them on a daily basis. In certain aspects, I will compare this device to my previous sat-nav, a TomTom GO LIVE 1005 World. In recent reviews of TomTom's latest sat-navs I have seen a worrying trend of consumers buying a product without really realising what that specific model can, and more importantly can't do. I will attempt to enlighten you all.

---- TOMTOM GO X0/X00/X000 PRODUCT RANGE DIFFERENCES ----

Let's get this out the way.
There are essentially three separate ranges of the TomTom GO series, the X0, X000 and X000. All of these sat-navs have screen sizes designated by their first number (e.g. GO 50 and GO 5000 have a 5" screen, GO 600 and GO 6000 have a 6" screen). If you're comparing sat-navs with the same number of '0's after the screen size number, then as far as I'm aware, the only differences are going to be screen size and screen resolution (resolution improving as you go up screen sizes). All of the GO sat-navs have the same software within them, and all come with lifetime TomTom map updates (that's not your lifetime!).

I don't usually write reviews but felt that this product really deserved it. This is the first time I have used a TomTom with Traffic and I have to say I am blown away by how accurate the traffic information is, you can see on the screen when you are about to hit a jam and it is spot on from start to finish.
I used to own a standard TomTom sat nav and thought it was time I upgraded as I was seeing TomTom traffic being advertised everywhere and heard about these new products, so I thought I would try it and I am not disappointed.
I did also look at the Garmin Traffic being offered to make sure I was making the right choice and after a bit of research TomTom traffic seemed to beat Digital traffic on many levels such as better coverage and accuracy which in my book is pretty important if you want decent information.
What I love about driving with the traffic information is that I always know what the situation is, how long the traffic lasts, for me there is nothing worse than being in traffic, but also not knowing how long I will be stuck in it. However with my trusty TomTom traffic I now know how long the traffic is, what the issue is but better still it offers me another route if one is available. Oh and it lets me know if I am approaching a jam too fast.. AMAZING !!!!

Love love love it, I can't drive anywhere without it... thank you TomTom !!!

Tom Tom Go 50 is a great product, easy to use, easy to see with clear maps (for life!). Tom Tom Traffic is a godsend for anyone who has every been caught in a jam - that must be all of us! There are few more frustrating things than catching the tail end of a tailback just after you could have diverted onto another route. Now a thing of the past. Brilliant! Thank you Tom Tom.

I got this a upgrade from my TomTom Via Live which was starting to show signs of computer senility.
The new Go range has pro's and con's over previous models.
For starters Traffic and Maps for Life is a big Pro. As someone who uses a SatNav everyday I need the traffic to get me to and from work.
The traffic updates are through your smart phone, in my case a Samsung Galaxy S4. Setup was simple but I have found that I sometimes need to un-pair and re-pair my phone in order for it to work. Not sure if this is my phones fault or the SatNav's.
The speed camera's are also very accurate but I believe it is only free for a short period before costing around £20 for a year.
The menu system has completely changed and I would put this in the Con category. They have made it difficult to navigate to simple things such as Favorites or "My Places" as it is now called.
Another Pro/Con is the ability to Navigate to a location using GPS Coordinates, this has been included and updated to include many different types of Coordinate Systems but it is hidden under many menu layers and will take some patients to find.
Over all I would recomend this product but if you are still unsure of something visit a local Halfords store and have a play and then but it from which ever retailer you want.

I wish I had bought a different version. This is more fiddly to use than the old version and annoyingly the voice control keeps activating itself when the radio is on! The directions on screen cover part of the map so sometimes it's hard to see where to road turns.
