5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent unit, 1 Mar 2007
Delivered very quickly from Amazon via Home Delivery Network. No need to read the instructions - charge it up (from the supplied USB cable or in the car), pop the SD card in and you are off. (It came out as a Which best buy recently). Very intuitive interface, and so far has been spot on in terms of directions. The supplied software for the PC lets you manage it and worked fine. The European maps take up almost all the space in the SD card so there isn't much room to add extra bits such as Points of Interest etc.
Overall it's perfect for what I needed - small, (easily fits in a fleece pocket), and it just works. It's not got all the fancy bits that the higher models have but it does what it's meant to do. Amazon were the cheapest when I bought mine. (But after the way they treated me when I had a problem I'd choose Amazon anyway even if it was a little more - excellent service.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what you need it to, efficiently and quickly, 2 Mar 2007
By C. Foster (North West UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Having used a PDA with TomTom5, I hesitated before buying a self contained unit. An upcoming trip to Europe swung the decision for me and I am very pleased I bought it.

As per the other reviews, directions are excellent and quickly recalculate if you miss a turn. It updates quickly - I used to often miss turns on roundabouts with my PDA as it was too slow recognising where I was.

Three problems so far:

- the sucker falling off randomly.

- the extra subscription traffic reports being a total and misleading waste of time.

- staying in a hotel in France, I had to go on a trip out for the day. I set my "home location" to the car park in the hotel and tootled off, safe in the knowledge that I could just ask it to direct me home after the day out. Because, however, the "home location" wasn't on a road the unit refused to give me a route. That could have been sticky, although admittedly I could have spent some time browsing the map to find a nearby place.

It has reliably navigated me all over England and on a long journey into France - via the middle of Paris - without a hitch. Even remote areas seem well covered.

It picks up the satellite signal even in very built up areas and can even be used when walking through a city (you can change the route type in preferences).

I am constantly impressed by the clarity of the spoken directions, which can be set surprisingly loud despite the size of the unit.

Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars For once - a really useful toy! Wont leave home without it!, 6 Feb 2007
By K. Sharp - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Bought this as post Xmas treat. Has already twice avoided me getting very lost and has assisted arrival times at meetings and commitments. Great in London at the weekend when I was running late for a course - arrived outside venue and was only metred parking - so just re-directed to nearest car park and off I went! Great. Dont buy separate mains charger as you probably have one at home (I have one which fits my blackberry etc which fits the sat nav). I also bought nice case at fraction of the branded cost on ebay. Bit of a shame that it doesnt come fully equipped in the first place .... buy hey! Like my new toy!
