Product Description
The story of one of England's greatest bare-knuckle fighters. A true sportsman, Tom Spring was an extremely elegant fighter who swept all before him in the 1820's. The pupil of another legendary fighter, Thomas Cribb, he defeated Bill Neat at Andover in 1823 to become Champion of All England. He later successfully defended his title against Jack Langan (the Irish champion) at Worcester in 1824. Tom's fame spread beyond that of a mere pugilist. He was a pageboy at the coronation of King George IV and included John Keats and Lord Byron among his many fans - an amazing achievement for the son of a humble butcher from the small Herefordshire village of Fownhope.
