Tom Shields: Free at Last, the third in the Tom Shields' Diary trilogy, has been eagerly awaited by the sort of people who have absolutely no idea what to buy Dad for Christmas. Extremely funny review of the mid-1990s from a uniquely Glasgow perspective.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just when you thought it couldn't get any funnier it does 14 Feb 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
As an avid reader of the diary page in the (Glasgow) Herald newspaper, I was delighted to receive a copy of this book at Christmas 1998. The book is a collection of short usually (but not always) witty stories from around Scotland and occasionally the world.
The contents are largely supplied by the readership of the paper and if necessary re-written by Tom Shields, who is effectively both the writer and the editor.
Stories of a funny and foolish nature abound. Such as the one about the Kangaroo bolting into the bush wearing the jacket of a rather silly tourist (his passport and wallet were in the jacket)
It's the sort of book you pick up thumb through laugh with and put down again. You may even find yourself rationing your reading lest you finish it too soon. I personally advise rationing to avoid the obvious problem of humour fatigue.
A decent man would pass his copy of the book on to someone else to allow them to enjoy the experience. However I am not a decent man so go buy your own.
