The title of this review might be confusing when compared to other reviews but please bear with me and all will be revealed!
When I read the excellent reviews "borrowed" from Amazon.com, I went ahead with my purchase only to find out that the reviews obviously referred to a different album, presumably with the same title. This is now a common practice with Amazon i.e. interchanging reviews for albums with the same title, rendering many of the reviews worthless. Check it out if you don't believe me - try Billy Fury's "The One And Only", his last studio album but a title also used later by a cheap budget label for a collection of inferior re-cuts of his hits. The contrasting reviews for both albums appear on the same pages leading to total confusion.
This UK release on "Life Time" (Note: not "Time Life", an established label with a good reputation for "oldies"), consists of predominantly "live" recordings with variable sound quality. Apart from the track listing there is no information, not even songwriting credits or recording dates. On the plus side, the performances are competent and may have been more acceptable if there had been any indication that these were not the originals.
If you are an avid Kingston Trio fan and need to complete your collection with some live cuts then this might be for you. If like me "Tom Dooley", brings back happy childhood memories then the version here will only disappoint.
Note to myself for future purchases - beware of "Life Time" releases
