"You will never be anything less than enthralled by this novel." - The Kindle Book Review

Other reviewers have proclaimed Tollesbury Time Forever to be...

"A strange, magical book - a work of pure genius - flawless perfection..."

Tollesbury Time
Nothing is real
And there's nothing
To get hung about

sing the children...

In September 2008 I accompanied the police as they entered a house in Tollesbury. I was  a psychiatric nurse at the time. The owner of the house was one of my patients. He had not been seen for two weeks - neither had his wife or his son.

What I saw that evening will stay with me forever. On the walls of the lounge, in tiny, neat black writing, were thousands and thousands of words. The torch beams picked them out as if they were groups of well-ordered flies. The words continued up the stairway, onto the landing walls and into the main bedroom. I had been in the house before and had seen some of the writing upstairs. Still I was mesmerised.

What you are about to read are the words that I saw on those walls. I have ordered them into chapters and taken the liberty of providing chapter headings. I have inserted two documents midway through which I trust will make sense when you come to them.

I have since resigned my post as a community mental health nurse and no longer work in psychiatry. The patient of whom I speak is called Simon Anthony. I have met him only once - yet he is, and will always remain, my hero.

A wonderful book 14 Feb 2012

A book very well deserving of all the positive reviews and 5*s it's been getting. This isn't a book you just read, it'a book you go on a journey with. Only the second time since getting my Kindle that I have felt the need to highlight passages, it's just that breathtaking.

Superb 9 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
You know how when you come out of a good film thinking "I really enjoyed that", but the real test is that you find yourself thinking about it in quiet moments days or weeks afterwards. Well this book was just like that for me. Loved it while I was reading it, like others, torn between wanting to know what happens next and savouring the wonderful prose. But since finishing it I've just kept thinking about it.
I know that I'll come back to it to read it at a more leisurely pace before too long, and will bore people rigid by recommending it at every opportunity.

Tollesbury Time Forever by Stuart Ayris has to be the most hyped book on the kuforum for a long while. It snuck in on the back of a freebie someone picked up and the word spread. It got nominated for the bookclub choice for February and won by the biggest score ever (so far).

At the time of writing this, it has 38 five stars, 3 four stars and just one three star. Impressive indeed. One of the most popular quotes here seems to be "beautifully written".

So. Did it live up to the hype? I think that answer is a big YES. That's why there's another 5* posted.

It certainly lives up to the "beautifully written" claims. The language Stuart writes in is flowing and descriptive and quite lovely to read. Without going into detail, the book is kind of in 3 parts which have a different feel to each of them. There's a few areas of poetry and rhyme and I don't do poetry, so skipped past those bits. It didn't put me off them though.

I don't often read in work at lunchtime, but I did today as I was getting towards the end. I wish I hadn't as I had to shuffle off, pretending I had a cold.

Try this one, you might love it forever :)
