Tokyo Raiders stars Tony Leung (well known from such Hong Kong action movies as Hard-Boiled and Bullet in the Head) along with pop stars Ekin Cheng and Kelly Chen. When Macy (Chen) gets jilted at the altar in Las Vegas, she returns to Hong Kong to find her fiancé has disappeared--but in his apartment she finds Yung (Cheng), an interior decorator with surprising kung fu skills. Together they go to Japan, where they meet up with Lin (Leung), a private detective with an entourage of kung fu babes and stories that don't quite add up. From there, the plot gets more and more incomprehensible. It has something to do with counterfeit yen and a twisty series of double-crosses, but Tokyo Raiders is really about hip clothes and martial arts razzle-dazzle, all framed by the worst dubbed dialogue you've ever heard--sort of a Hong Kong version of The Mod Squad. Leung has demonstrated his acting chops in films like Chungking Express and In the Mood for Love, but he can't make this silliness sound sensible. Still, the actors are sexy, the fight scenes are splashy (if a little confusing), and the movie never wastes too much time getting from one action sequence to the next. A chase that starts out on a motorised skateboard and ends up on a trailer truck hauling new cars is particularly entertaining. --Bret Fetzer,

A reputed gang leader has crossed the wrong people, and now a rival gang, the police and one of thebiggest business men in the country are out to find him. And they are all hoping that his beautifulgirlfriend, Macy (Kelly Chen), will inadvertently lead them to him.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and FUN 9 July 2007
This film is probably never going to win any major awards but please don't hold that against it, because if you give it a go this is a really fun, enjoyable film.

The plot concerns Macy who having been stood up at the alter gies to Japan in search of her fiancee. Along the way she meets Len and Yeung who seem to be good guys, or are they?

The plot is a bit predictable but there are plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep you interested. Tony Leung is especially good as private detective/spy Len. This film is funny, has some nice little action sequences and above all, does not take itself too seriously.

If you approach it with the same light heartedness I guarantee you'll enjoy yourself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stylish FUN Film 10 Mar 2002
By A Customer
After starting off with a scene that seems to have be taken straight out of "The Avengers". Involving an Umbrella and some super strong glue. The rest of the film is just as "fun".
Some people will claim this film is little more than "mindless hokum", but that's really the point. It's a fun film full of attractive people having highly stylised fights with each other. With some of the most amusing moments coming from Len's assistants who seem to have been modeled on "Charlie's Angels" and consist of four stupidly cute Japanese chicks in Leathers and \ or silver hot pants...
All in all, a fun Stylish movie that you'll probably like more than you expected :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Choice 16 April 2001
By A Customer
This Movie is one of the best Chinese movie available with great fight scenes and great leads by Tony Leung, Ekin Cheung and Kelly Chan. Tony Leung plays a secret agent disguised as a Private Detective while Ekin Cheung is a private detective disguised as a decorator. The plot follows Kelly Chan who searches for her fiancee who has disappeared.
