Product Description

TOES UP: A brand-new collection of unforgettable horror from bestselling author Adam Light.

Set your expectations aside and run screaming down dark corridors of inescapable terror.

- A waitress in Slidell, Louisiana is about to meet Jack, a truck driver hell bent on pleasing the goddess in TAKEN.

- A diabetic man who neglects his health pays for it in truly twisted fashion in VENGEANCE BY THE FOOT.

- Greg is having a really bad day at work, and can’t find his shoe or his mustard in the spine-tingling GONE.

- Winning the lottery isn’t quite all it’s cracked up to be for Gordan in WAY OUT OF HERE.

- Survivors of the apocalypse find an invitation to terror waiting on their doorstep in THE CONTINUANCE AGENCY.

Includes SERVING SPIRITS, a thrilling novella available for the very first time in this collection!

These are the dark, forbidding realms that exist at the edge of sanity. No one is safe. In the end, we all leave TOES UP.

About the Author

I have always loved the written word. I fell in love at an early age and was fortunate enough to have a family that was in love with books. You could say I was nurtured on the language, and as I grow older I realize more and more that there are no boundaries to the impact words can have on everything. I have been publishing my own stories for a couple of years now, and am inching my way towards the completion of a first novel. Until I finish that project, I will likely continue to pop out short stories here and there, and I am proud to say I just published a collection of short stories titled TOES UP, which contains one brand new story unavailable anywhere else along with five previously released titles. Thanks to all who have read and reviewed my work, giving an unknown author such as myself a chance to unleash my madness upon you. There is plenty more to come. 4.0 out of 5 stars A big thumbs up for Toes Up 24 Nov 2013
By JRayne
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I had read a few of the stories in this collection, and was excited to read a new story of Adam's: 'Serving the Spirits' as well as giving the others a re-read.
There's something addictive about Adam's work, the surreal, Outer Limits style of 'Gone' and 'Way Out of Here' make for intriguing and creepy reads while the more immediate and gruesome 'Continuance Agency' and 'Serving the Spirits' give the collection a nice change of pace.

I'd rate them as follows:
'Taken' - A strange tale with a nice twist at the end. 4/5
'Gone' - A haunting tale that I found very subtle and moving. Some nice clues as to the outcome, but by the time it clicks, you've already missed a number of them. 5/5
'Vengeance by the Foot' - Short but sweet. And strange. Very strange! 4/5
'Continuance Agency' - An apocalyptic short story that is part of a bigger story. Very moreish, but a little cruel with its cliffhanger ending. 4/5
'Way out of Here' - This was my favourite until I read 'Gone' and 'Serving the Spirits'. A surreal and fascinating short story involving parellel worlds. 4/5
'Serving the Spirits' - An awesome new novella. Reminded me of 'The Shining' in feel and theme, only with a sinister ram deity thrown in for good measure. Couldn't read this one quick enough. 5/5

In summary, this is an excellent and varied collection of Adam's early stories. I'd recommend it to horror fans and fans of Outer Limits style strangeness.

All of the stories had a twist at the end. Most of them were really good, some weren't as entertaining as the others.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book... 20 May 2014

Well written short stories that flow nicely. I enjoyed them all, Which is a rarity as there is usually one or two stories in a collection that I don't like but I was happily surprised with the good quality of all the stories included in this collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Storytelling 17 Dec 2013
By N. Iuppa - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Each one of these stories is a small masterwork. Gripping! Building greater and greater tension until the very end. Light has the wonderful ability to catch your interest, make you concerned for the safety of the characters, then keep you guessing as their strange, unexpected fates play themselves out... powerfully.
