Product Description

Why do toddlers behave the way they do? And are they doing it deliberately to wind their parents up? If only toddlers came with an instruction manual - well, now they do.

This book brings together tried and tested practical, down-to-earth tips from parents who've survived the toddler years and want to help you do the same. If you've ever wondered how to get your child to sleep through the night, listen when you say no and stop reacting with horror at the sight of something green on their plate, this book can help. 'Toddlers: an instruction manual' celebrates the qualities we love about toddlers, and suggests ways to navigate their less appealing aspects. We cannot stop your toddler from tormenting you, but we can help you get through with your sanity (just about) intact.

Oh, I loved this book!

Toddlers: an instruction manual doesn't shy away from dealing with tricky issues a toddler can bring. It deals with them head on and contins lots of postive advice and insights.

Joanne Mallon is a lifecoach and a parent dish blogger. She really knows her stuff about child development and about what parents need. Through this book she offers the perspective of some delightful parents whose writings are witty and warm. She offers expert tips and useful research. She breaks information down into bite sized chunks and summarises each area of development which is very sseful. Most importantly no matter whether she is looking at tantrums, sleep or feeding she ends each chapter sharing words of love for toddlers at this age and stage and she keeps it positive.

If I was a rating website I'd give this 5 out of 5 stars. It has all a parent needs in a book about childcare; other parents wisdom, humour, reality, guidance, emotion and clarity. I love the books energy; toddler years may be tough but they are pure magic too.

I have something of a distrust of parenting manuals of any sort. Pretty much all of the ones I have read before have been condescending and possess the uncanny knack of making you feel like a bad parent. This book is different. It includes hints, tips and experiences from the real experts... other parents.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and despite having survived toddler years with my eldest child, I find it very useful now I am doing it again with child 2.

Light-hearted yet informative this book helps with all aspects of raising a child between the ages of 1 and 4yrs, from sleep and potty training to dealing with new siblings and looking after yourself. Written in a way that had me swinging from laughter to "I remember that!" nods and smiles, I would recommend this to any parent approaching or working through these tender developing years, whether you are a first timer or not.

Top class read!

We Love It! 16 Jan 2012

This is one of those books you really need to know about.

The book explores why toddlers behave the way they do (and speaking as a mum of a 2.5 year old, anything that can shed any light is a good good thing!), giving advice as an instruction manual.

There's so many different scenarios and lots of advice - you do feel like you're not alone in it all, and it's a relief to know that the craziness will eventually stop (and that we might miss it!) and, ultimately, that there's so much to love about the toddler years.

It's a great book to dip in and out of - we've found the potty training and sleep sections very useful - and best of all it's written in a non-judgemental way.

As there's no single way to deal with a problem, it's reassuring to read lots of different opinions and what has worked for others - we've already implemented a few ideas which are working.
