These books are fantastic and amazing value. I've just stumbled across them whilst searching for birthday presents. We already own the 4 books in this particualr set and have paid close to £20 for them. If only I'd found this sooner!!

My 10 month old 'reads' all these lift the flap books unsupervised and loves them. I've never had to break out the sellotape for the flaps.

Really quality books. Entertain for hours
Can't recommend them highly enough

My little girl loves "Dear Zoo," so we thought we couldn't go wrong with this set of four books by the same author/illustrator. Unfortunately, they are VERY small. On the plus side, this means they're good for slipping in a pocket or a purse.

On the minus side, a small lift-the-flap book means small flaps. When we got the books, my daughter was 8 months old, and she had no problem lifting the flaps in any normal sized books. These tiny ones, however, were more than she could manage. (Or perhaps I should say "less than she could manage.") Her fingers just slipped over the page when she tried to open the flaps.

Additionally, the flaps are cut into a second layer of cardboard, rather than just glued on. This makes them sturdier and more tear-resistant-- but it also means they tend to get locked in place when you close the book, adding yet another challenge for tiny fingers.

My daughter is now almost one, and she is only just starting to be able to lift the flaps in these books, as long as I bend the page back a little to make them pop up. (One of the other reviewers mentions that his 10-month old can handle these books -- but reading his review closely, I think he purchased each book separately in its normal size, rather than collectively in this mini-sized collection.)

Putting aside my concerns about the form of these books, the content is charming, with simple stories and appealing pictures. I would certainly recommend this collection if you want mini-books to slip into your purse or pocket-- as long as your child has enough dexterity to handle a flap the size of a matchbook cover or smaller.

Otherwise, I'd recommend buying the books individually so that you receive them in their regular sizes.

These 4 durable board books come in a nice presentation box. They are smaller than I expected but then I guess that makes them a good size for toddlers to handle. My 15-month old loves the 2 lift-the-flap ones, although the smallness is a test for her finger dexterity!
