Adults beware: I broke my ankle
on 28 March 2016
The scooter itself is gorgeous. Very nicely made and machined.
But I am writing this from hospital.
I took it out for the kids to ride as soon as the sun came out on Easter Friday (before storm Katie), and adjusted the handlebars up and thought I'd have a go. I couldn't ride her old one as it was plastic and would buckle under my 81kg weight.
I went 6m and it jackknifed fast on damp patch of tarmac under trees, and I landed flat on my bottom and side.
I sat up and my right foot was facing the wrong way. Bad luck.
It'll be pinned tomorrow and I can't drive to work for 8 weeks, may take a year for all swelling to go. I'm self employed, too.
Don't be tempted to see what it's like, even for a few metres. Though it can take your weight, it's little wheels cannot provide the traction needed and you'll fall harder than you remember.
Also avoid using on damp tarmac, even for kids.
