If you're looking to cool yourself down, this is the wrong fan for you. If you are looking for a fascinator to exchange with a child to promote their communicataion skills, then you could do a great deal worse. There are five leds here, which create a pretty inexplicably stunning display when the blades are spinning. You can hold the fan up to touch your face without any pain, although you obviously wouldn't want it in your eye. I have some sticky tape around the battery compartment on mine, because it didn't go back together that well after I put the batteries in. Who cares though! It looks durable enough, who's to say. It certainly doesn't mind it if you stop the rotor spinning. For the price, I would recommend buying a few.

First, the fan I received was black, not red as on the photo.
It takes 3x AAA batteries, but I could not easily get the back off to put them in. It required a tiny screwdriver (not provided). I found our smallest screwdriver 1mm and it didn't work, just damaged all the threads, so in the end I had to prize the back off with a knife and broke it.
Once the batteries were in, the fan itself works well and the colours and patterns are lovely. My baby daughter was amazed and intrigued by it.
