This album blew me away when I first heard it and it still sounds fantastic. The songwriting is intimate and the production first class. Her mid 70s albums were the work of an artist at the peak of her career - sadly underated. Buy it and enjoy.
This is Joan Armatrading's 5th album and her last with a sound that uses her accoustic guitar as the starting basis. Together with her first and third albums, (Whatever's for Us and Joan Armatrading), this is a record that I would recommend without hesitation. A key strength is the consistently high quality of songs. The arrangements are unfussy and effective. It is also more personal than its immediate predecessor (Show Some Emotion. Overall this is an album, strong on melody and voice, that is unlikely to tempt you into track skipping.
