I liked the story and the writing was good however Historical romances should keep to the time period there were several instances where the heroine and the hero behaved in a contrary way
First where The hero seduced the H even knowing that she was a Lady of the Ton ( fallen on bad times but still a member of the aristocracy)
The heroine herself had several unladylike behaviours and no one corrected her at all???
Her swearing etc was just annoying
I mean I read historical romances to feel that bygone era of polite society and this kind of ruined it for me
Also the what was it 'sacred sevens ' gold old real soon ( almost after the first time I read it....)
The other issue I have is that even though she keeps calling for revenge there is very little action talking place from her side
A few glares, a few impolite remarks ( for which Again there is no one saying tsk tsk )
I mean where is the fun
The incident with the Macaw the first time he visits the duke house is ok ... After all they were marking territory but bringing him everywhere was just ridiculous
There is streak of recklessness in the woman that shows a blatant disregard for anyone else's welfare ( for ex she does not worry that her behaviour will reflect badly on her sisters or aunt )
Also calling the duke Duke Magnus Every Time ( ok a few times...)

All in all a weak confused and selfish heroine albeit one with a gentle heart as shown in her rescue of daisy

I found this to be a story that started out well but I soon found . difficulty in keeping my interest. I did finish the book after a few attempts. If you want a story without much depth than it is alright as a time waster. If you like novels that have a twist and surprises this is not for you.
