Don't start reading this book if you've just half an hour to spare before rushing off somewhere. Why? Because To Tell The Truth runs at such a fast pace it could win a medal for sprinting. Once started you just can't stop reading. In one way the story is achingly familiar: a bewitching toddler kidnapped as she is playing on the beach outside her parents holiday house in Spain. The difference this time is that in nearby Costa del Sol is Rosie Gilmour, a seasoned crime jolurnalist. From then on be prepared for crude colourful language and uninhibited rough stuff as Rosie investigates an illegal sex worker, conflicting stories from the parents, corrupt politicians, and the frightening possibility that Amy, the kidnapped toddler, might have become a victim of a sex trafficking gang who sometimes indulge in snuff movies.
Instead of reporting all her suspicions to the police, Rosie throws herself into fights, car chases, killings, illegal murders, and a daring scheme to rescue not just little Amy, but a crowd of caged crying children. Just as you're beginning to relax, Rosie finds herself imprisoned with the children in a burning building with no exits.
Phew!!
