Book Description

15 Sep 2007
When Lord Gregor MacLean learns his childhood friend, Venetia Oglivie, has been abducted by a fortune hunter, he rides off to Scotland in hot pursuit. If he doesn't rescue the provocative wench swiftly, she'll be ruined by the scandal! But when an irate Gregor catches up with her, arrogantly expecting a hero's welcome, the sparks between him and the strong-willed Venetia begin to fly. And while they're trapped by an unexpected snowstorm, those sparks grow so hot they could burn the inn down! Now if Gregor can only convince Venetia that his motive for marriage isn't duty, but desire...

5.0 out of 5 stars Lord Ravencroft cons Lady Venetia Oglivie 21 Dec 2007
Format:Mass Market Paperback
to accompany him to the Scottish border; his nefarious plot is to get her to Gretna Green and force her to wed him. Venetia realizes his scheme and vows to suffer from a scandal than wed this bland fortune hunter. However, before she can escape back to London, a blizzard leaves her and other travelers stranded at an inn.

Venetia's childhood friend Lord Gregor MacLean learns of her "abduction" and is outraged. He rides like hell in the wintry weather planning to rescue Venetia. He charges up to her at the inn and is euphoric she is okay and unmarried. As their love surfaces, Venetia rejects his proposal as she assumes he does so out of honor and duty; Gregor needs to persuade her that it out of desire and need with his plan being one heated kiss at a time.

The latest MacLean historical romance (See HOW TO ABDUCT A HIGHLAND LORD) is an enjoyable battle between the sexes. Ironically readers know Gregor loves Venetia before he does because of how he fumes and drops everything to rescue her. When he finally accepts what his heart has told the audience, he has a mountain higher than the Highlands to climb as he must persuade Venetia is loves her and wants her not just because he is a principled person doing the honorable thing. Karen Hawkins provides an entertaining MacLean romance!! I'd also recommend reading Tino Georgiou's bestselling novel--The Fates--if you haven't yet!

1.0 out of 5 stars Too much going on. 10 Dec 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Aargh! Where do I start? I keep giving Karen Hawkins a chance but maybe I should give up. This was not her worse but it's close enough. Gave her a star for effort and good plot to begin with but along the way did she mess it up. Throw in a crying dad, a silly yound fop and several others who dod not give the hero or heroine a word in edgewise. Their story was all over the place, there was no depth( which I was looking forward to reading as our main characters have known each other for 29 years. Yes the heroine is in her early 30s which doesnt gel well) with the main characters, secondary or the story. You dont get to know them much to care about them. I enjoyed scenes with the Maclean brothers and the heroine's grandmother than I did the rest of them.

If you cant get this book from a library, you're not missing much in skipping it.

5.0 out of 5 stars couldnt put it down 17 Feb 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
what a wonderful thing a snow storm can be!!! venetia ogilvie has been abducted and is on her way to gretna green to married to ravenscroft. she doesnt realise it at the time, but her oldest friend gregor maclean is hot on her heels to rescue her. but due to an unforseen snow storm they are stuck in an inn until the roads clear. cabin fever takes over and they indulge in some heated flirting and some passionate kisses and even their companions in the inn start to get in on the act too. great story that i just couldnt put it down. great lead characters as they are already great friends so you can see from the start that they are made for each other. also the minor characters are so funny and stereotypical down the grandmama who is a hoot and a half!!!!
