Ian Richardson is delicious as the wily and cynical PM battling the (thinly disguised) Prince Charles (heir to the throne please watch this). Richardson's periodic turning to the camera to let us in on the action is superb as it draws you in to the plot and makes you secretly like the old schemer. Still, there is a strong message under the humour, it is all a little too real for comfort!

The triumphant return of Francis Urquart! A wonderful mix of black humour and unsubtle satire makes this series a wonderful addition for anyone who enjoyed House of Cards. Highly recommended.

I've been watching the USA version of House of Cards and, because I'd never seen the UK original, watched the first series, then, this. Brilliant.

To Play the King is the second in a series of three, whilst it is the weakest in the series this is only because the other two are absolutely outstanding.
Urquart is settled as Prime Minister, the opposition is in disarray and he has put through most of the reforms he seeks. In short he is getting bored, in need of a new challenge. Enter "the King" a Prince Charles act alike, weakling and caring person - everything that Urquart hates.
Can the Prime Minister bring down a King, surely not... you may well say that I could not possibly comment!!!
