5.0 out of 5 stars Prepare to feel! 23 Aug 2003
By Melanie
This book had me captivated from the very first page. There was none of this boring 'getting to know the characters' that you have to trundle through before you can get into the story, you’re hit full on with the first story line, which throws you into the life of Anne, and guarantees you'll fall in love with her immediately!
I believed she was writing my life story, I passed the book to a friend who believed the same. She writes in such a way that addresses all of the issues we have all had to go through (gay women anyway) at some point. Coming to terms with sexuality, not believing you are one of “them”, not knowing how to interpret an intense friendship with a ‘friend’, being swept of your feet only to be thrown back to the lions. But she writes in such a way that doesn't scream cliche... it all feels very personal.
We watch as Anne struggles to come to terms with herself in the 1970’s, then in the 90’s when she is a strong, powerful, successful woman, with an exterior no-one could break, who yearns to fill the gap in her heart, and her life, which has been there for 20 years. She knows there is only one person to fill the gap, but doesn’t trust herself to even admit it to herself!
This book had me crying floods at the end, at the recognition of a moment passed, and lost in life, which I’m sure we have all experienced…
There is only one downfall to this book, it’s not long enough. It only took me a day or two to read, and left me searching through the pages for my ‘best bits’ to read again!

I've read this book over and over again and it just has a plot that is so realistic that you can never tire of it! Brilliant book-and very well written, consise and clear, never at any time are you in doubt about what the writer is saying or the point that she is trying to make!

There's not much more that I can say other than what the two above have said. This is by far the best book I have read so far.
Deliciously written, captivating and incredibly personal. What happens to these people, happens to you, in your heart mind and conscience.
I absolutely adored every letter, syllable and fullstop of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning! 18 Mar 2005
This book is wonderful, I am totally in love with it. I found it fast moving, and a realistic display of seemingly un-requited love, it is beautifully written. I have read this book a number of times, and I am still yet to get bored. I would recommend this book to everyone, particularly any lesbians who are tortured by their sexuality and perhaps need a nudge towards admitting who they are, this book shows that it can be done! If there was a 6th star I would use it to rate this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book 3 Mar 2004
This is one of those books that you pick up and literally you can not put it down. I completed it with in a day. Cameron sets the plot quickly and the characters. It is very realistic and her depth about the characters makes you feel like you actually know them. You just have to go back and read it all over again. Its great because you have an interesting Law story running while love and chemistry is plotting away to. You should definantly add this one to your collection.
