portable pleasure,
This review is from: Tivoli iPal Portable Audio Laboratory (Electronics)
The expansive sound of the ipal has to be heard to be believed. I have taken it away with me a couple of times now and with my ipod, I truly have the equivelent of my entire music collection and my stereo. I love the look of it, very sleek and contemporary. The radio tuning is also amazingly accurate and better than my stereo. I love my ipal.

Simply the best...,

Let me add to the chorus of approval for this wonderful, wonderful product. It is, quite simply, the ultimate battery powered ipod speaker and a wonderful radio to boot.
And I say this when I really didnt want to like it - frankly it doesn't look that cool, and I am not anything like a music nerd - most of the time I just listen to my ipodded talking books on it. I had thought that battery powered portable speakers would be fine, and hey, do you really need to pay all that for the extra of a radio? Well trust me, the answer is that this is worth every penny. The sound quality even to a cloth ear like me is just tremendous. I may not be testing it with very complex stuff but the nuances of voices come over just so much better, the tone is just so much richer than any other portable radio or speaker I have tried. And I have tried. I went through two battery powered docks/speaker sets before I got this, and still have to go back to them when I am fool enough to forget to charge the ipal, and the difference is just painful. (BTW the charging thing is totally my fault, not that of the product - I get about 7 hours plus run time from a charge - I just forget sometimes). The battery life is also wonderful - I have just had to replace after something like 3 years of daily use for an hour a day. Bottom line - you want a battery powered speaker for your ipod - this is the only sensible option!

A great companion for my iBook!,

I bought an iPal to match my iBook (I don't yet own an iPod) so that I could watch DVDs without wearing headphones (the in-build speakers on the iBook are woeful).Result? Truly excellent clarity, especially on speech. OK, it is not Dolby 5.1 (or even stereo!), but it is more than adequate for close-up, individual viewing on a 12" screen. The exceptional mid-range of the iPal helps the in-built radio to be very, very good. It doesn't try to belt out bass, but what is present is tuneful. I can happily play anything from iTunes on it and listen with pleasure. Overall, the build quality is good and now that I have run the batteries through a few cycles, it seems to last for hours and hours. Why only 4 stars? Cost. It is available in the States for the same amount in dollars (say £65), and the only difference would be the plug-in charger. Having said that, I would still recommend it as by far the best in its class.
