Reviews

Described as the 'female Little Britain' this 'filthy but fabulous' new BBC3 sketch show is packed with outrageous, grotesque and perverse characters that might make you cringe but will certainly make you laugh out loud. Meet the oh so shy Italian Maid 'Don't look at me'! Maxine Bendix whose addiction to plastic surgery has taken her down a messy route 'it's just a little bit of seepage', the creepy Don Peacock who loves to have a 'little wee-wee' on his ladies; Paula the twitching darter; a group of refined ladies who like to crochet with nothing on underneath and horny necrophiliac pathologists - it's anything but boring.

I love this show and so I was delighted to find it on DVD with a second disk of extras.

TittyBangBang gives an often wry look at society from a female perspective. A viewpoint that is sadly under-represented in comedy. There are a variety of characters that are portrayed: The groping Urolagniac man, the over-confident but under-endowed young would-be stud. the attention-seeking maid who protests her shyness, the attention seeking council-estate mum, who dreams of appearing on TV as the failed mother of a dysfunctional family, not to mention the monsterous Paula, who captains the Scorton Ladies Darts team despite her inability to play darts.

Like little Britain, the characters are given time to develop. Yes, a basic character theme remains throughout, but each has their own story which is told throughout the series.

The talent of the performers is outstanding and they are not afraid to send themselves up in their comedy. Positives aside, I wouldn't be able to watch this with my mother who is in her 60s, it really IS quite offensive at times.

If you hated little Britain, you're very likely to dislike this equally. But as it's quite easy to pick up this first season for under £5, give it a try and see what you think. You might be pleasantly surprised!

At a low price, this DVD certainly contains many comical moments and is worth watching. Some acts are ludicrous and not funny at all, but don't let that put you off!

Catchphrase-related sketch shows seem to have more or less replaced traditional sketch shows these days. Things like Little Britain and The Catherine Tate Show were great, the characters had depth and there was always something besides the catchphrase to laugh at.

But some shows just seem to rely entirely on catchphrases. Tittybangbang, as its title suggests, is aimed at the lowest denomenator, viewers who are half-drunk and will laugh at anything. There are some funny sketches - the "I'm shy" maid, the randy coroners and the "duck and chips" family. Some sketches are funny in their absurdity (the half-naked middle-aged women) but are really only one-sketch ideas. Others, such as the Rasta fans, the female darts team, the oily sales rep and the woman who wants to get on the TV are just tedious and unfunny.

What is a tragedy about this show is that Debbie Chazen and Lucy Montgomery have real talent for comedy and playing a wide range of characters. There are also a lot of talented co-stars (including one of the guys who used to do voices for Spitting Image). If only they had been given some decent material to work with this series could have been a hit.

My sister bought it and in parts it's quite funny and you can feel sorry for some characters in certain parts. The outakes are very funny and behind the scenes, while short, shows Bob Mortimer really getting stuck into his creation which is really cool.
Glad i've seen it but not sure i'd watch it again. My advice would be to rent or borrow it first to see how you get on with it. For the price it's not too bad but sadly not a classic in my opinion.

This truly is a bizarre but wonderful collection of characters.

What a lot of people don't realize is that TittyBangBang is mostly written by Vic Reeves big chum Bob Mortimer under his real name Robert Renwick.

If you loved "The smell of Reeves and Mortimer" you will love this too!

I bought this recently having seen all the series on TV several years ago. I found it as amusing this time round as the last - especially the darts team and Maxine from Eastern Europe with the plastic surgery and 'seepage'. The character Don - who like's to 'whaz' on the ladies is the funniest character out of the lot - although quite sinister from some angles!! I thought of Bob Mortimer whilst watching this before I discovered he actually wrote it!!!!!!!! 'n everthin' [but the girl]!

I missed this when it came out and the video was a great way to watch it for very little cost. Off the wall humour that tickled me/
