This is a very beautiful film.
Typically, many would feel that this is about the sinking of the 'Titanic' and the well-documented disaster, but this is much more than this.
A very 'human' story here about a family with 'issues' who get aboard. The husband and father joins the rest of his family unexpectedly, and somewhat unwelcomed, and various problems amongst them ensue.
The outstanding thing about this version of the story, is the fabulous acting from the two leads in particular; Clifton Webb and Barbara Stanwyck and the tremendously talented close-up shots and sequences of the pure and raw emotion.
Before watching this, expect it to be much much more than the drama of the sinking of a great ship and all its tragedy.
Also stars Thelma Ritter and a young Robert Wagner.
A great movie!
