5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Deal 28 Mar 2011
Format:Hardcover
This book is amazing!

Let me write this review in a manner that awnsers the questions i first had before buying a copy,

Having already amased a mini libary of Titanic books with such rich titles as the Titanic Ship Magnificent Vol 1 and 2, i was looking for a book that would provide a great resource, quality information, but most of all, a vast collection of photographs of not just Titanic, but all 3 ships, I was also anxious to know if it just reused the common photos that every other Titanic book seems to have,

So let me tell you whats inside, 512 pages, The first 250 pages might aswell have been pulled out and renamed " The Complete works of Robert Welch " because this book has near enought atleast 90% of the photos Robert Welch took! so i was so very happy with this, the photos are of a great quality, with lots of space given to them, some even get full pages. The Olympic section also has alot of the damage taken from the HMS Hawke collision.

(If your unsure why Robert Welch is important, Basicly he was the man whom took all the photos of Olympic and Titanic during construction.)

The Book also includes a collection of the Father Browne photos, also of a nice size, and the photos taken from Carpahia during te Titanic Rescue,

This book isnt just photos, theres alot of Art, Advertising from the time and a complete narative explaining everything in cronological order, What can i say, I'm deeply suprized this book is out of print, i feel realy lucky for getting a copy, This is an amazing book and if your reading this looking to buy a good Titanic book, i realy urge you hit the buy now button!!! The R.R.P printed inside the book is £30.00, i paid £15 second hand for it, If your looking for a serious book, this is it.

having sought reference material on the Titanic's 'forgotten' sisters, I was thrilled to see this massive offering by three equally enthusiastic followers of the White Star Line's finest.

Each ship is individually discussed, from the laying down of the keel, through to the final voyages, with a section set aside, unsurprisingly, for the Titanic disaster.

Detailed photographs of the construction of the Brittanic help emphasize the implementation of the safety measures incorporated into the last of these ships, the Brittanic, helping to explain perhaps why the ship sank so quickly, in comparison to the Titanic.

A lot has been written on the Titanic, but very little about the other two, and with the recent screening of the Brittanic (made for TV) movie in the States and central Europe, it may only be a matter of time before this becomes the latest hot topic.

A great read, easy to understand and follow, and a good spread of colour and B&W photographs, make this a great christmas present for the Titanic afficionado.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, huge volume. 28 Sep 1999

This book contains enough to satisfy the most ardent Titanic buffs like myself, despite some errors. Many photos of the building of the ship I hadn't seen before. Very well worth purchasing, as much information in this book as 10 smaller ones. And at this price, a bargain. Look at the back cover, a very moving painting and quotation.
